We have had them off and on for several years, just seems to be more of them this year. They don't bite or sting, My new puppy HotRod has chased, stomped and pretty much terrorised them, with no ill effects.
I have no idea if they are wasp, or just giant bugs of some kind, they do not have a stinger that I can see. Bright Orange wings, very black bodies, kinda look like giant ants in a way.
They cut the leaves on all my trees, roses, everything! And along with the cutter bees they are making all my plants look like swiss cheese. If they have a nest or hive, I haven't found it.
Any ideas anyone?
