So my first question is, How much did you earn in money or giftcards in 2008? I am reletively new to gather, so I am still working on my first redemption.
My follow-up question is what do you do to earn so many points?
So far, my biggest point "getter" is referring people. Most of my points come from referring people and getting them to sign up for gather.com. I have 3 small children, so posting articles and commenting on others' stuff doesn't happen as much as I would like!
What are your secrets?
Here's to a prosperous "gather" year for us all in 2009! I can't wait to ask this question again in as 2010 approaches!

Commenting and creating posts is the easiest way to get points. I've only referred one person, my roommate, and I actually didn't know I going points for doing so. I don't have a lot of time this time of year because of my job, but I keep a small notebook with me and when I come up with something that would make a good article or something I want to share, I'll jot it down. I tend to get writers block as soon as I sign on, so the little notebook helps me remember what I wanted to write about.
Good luck with your Gather goals in 2009!
Thank you for your support and comments
I am still getting points from old posts I think, so my advice would be to build up a good body of posts, pics and videos and of course comment on others.
If you are like me you have a load of pics of your baby so post them on gather and then go comment on other peoples pics and they will do the same for you.
I just cashed in a $10 card, i think i may have got another one earlier this year but I am so sleep deprived i dont have a clue..
I wasn't sure how to make money here.
thank you all who are on the Gather. Best for 2009 to all of you who made my life happier.
Happy to visit your pages and help you reach your Gather goals for 2009!
PI F with a 10 for you!
I originally came to this site, because it was supposed to be a place for writers. Unfortunately, there are very few writers left on this site due to it attracting so many people who are only interested in points.
I earned $1175 in cash out's, plus a free digi cam, and some other assorted prizes here. My best advice- view a lot of content, comment when you have something to say, make new connections, and be active. The more active you are, the easier it is to earn points.
I do have to say, though- I'm a stay at home mom with more time than average, but I also love the site itself, aside from points. I come here to keep up with what other people have going on, and to have more adult interaction in my life. The points just come with my natural habits here.
Thanks for the tips from everyone though, I think it will be very helpful!!
I also see that you are in the comment speedway group, so am I and it seems to be helping!! They really do what they say they are going to do!
I’m just stopping by to share some
I registered for Gather over a year ago but deleted my account because I rarely used it and didn't really know what Gather was about then. It confused me. Now I re-registered. I was looking for a place for writers as well, I didn't even know I could earn points for making posts and comments. I can see what Heather means by there are "few writers" left on this site. I see a lot of useless posts here, and from some of the same people. But I like that there is a lot of information available and being able to find common interests with others. I do wish there is a list of how many points each activity earns or a history/detailed information for the points I have earned so far- not because I'll do it more often, but because I feel like I am earning points randomly. They come in sporadically, and I don't even know what it's from. I notice the points go up even when I haven't posted anything or replies to my comments/posts...maybe there's a delay in the points getting posted to my account? It's still a little confusing.
