I really, really hate discussing politics. I do enjoy staying on top of what is going on in the world of politics, and consider myself fairly knowledgable, and I love talking about them with my husband. But find when it comes to politics many people can become over emotional, so for the sake of getting along with people I try to refrain from speaking about them.
I also try to stay very impartial when replying to postings about politics, or I choose either not to comment or not to view the postings at all. But I am finding that I have replied more than I would like to recently. I have also found that I have been forcing myself to bite my tongue. Lately though it seems if I bight my tongue any harder I am just going to bite it clean off.
Let me just start out by saying, I don't care if you are a Democrat or a Republican that does not matter to me. I don't judge people based on their political affiliations. I believe that anyone who cares enough about politics at all cares a great deal about their country, and in the end we all want what is best for our country and for its people.
If you want to stand on the top of a mountain and sing the praises of your political party, all the power to you. I respect your right to do so, and applaude your passion. Weather I agree with you or not I am happy that you care so much and are so passionate.
All I ask is that if you are going to put up a posting or respond to a comment that you are being factual about what you are saying. It is driving me nuts because several times a day now I seem to be reading postings from people spouting their mis-interpretations, thruth stretching, and down right stupid and rediculas statements mainly about the republican party.
I just read something that just really got to me because it was completly and udderly wrong, it was just the last straw for me, so to say, and I just had to scream from the mountain tops myself. Go ahead and complain about the political party you are voting against, just get it right, don't lie, don't misenterpret the truth and then go on to actually publish your incorrect assumptions. If you are going to put something in print about a political candidate you should at least do some fact checking first, or at least make sure you are putting the right name with the right situation.
By all means continue to post all the good and bad about the political parties, and their candidates, just make sure what you are saying is accurate.

But, I must say, that many postings are not truly lies. They are the person's own personal opinions based on rumors started by the press themselves. So, in essence, they are not truly lying, they are only perpetuating rumors told to them by the people that are "supposed" to be reporting the facts.
They don't know that it's not the truth. They are only repeating what is told to them.
Then there are others who make comments, you don't deem to be true. But, in their own mind, they believe them. So, in essence it is true to them.
In closing, I don't like politics either, and try to stay out of it as much as possible. It does bring out the worst in the people sometimes. I understand your frustration. Just hang in there and let off the steam. I hope this article made you feel better.
Hugs, from your angel friend, A.
Both parties are guilty of what you have mentioned. Obama had gotten a bad wrap on a lot of things that just weren't true too. His wife took a worse beating than Palin. And helllllooooo, they aren't Muslems with guns.
To me, it's all part of the game that's being played out. Phil Graham called us a nation of whiners in mental recession. If you look at the election year circus, he may have been right.
Too often, I open a page whose title suggests good information, only to discover a raging rant bashing one or another candidate. The writers of those rants are not changing anyone's mind about voting. They are also not being read by reasonable people. When I see the bashing, I close the page.
Rosa, I haven't seen much about Mrs. Obama, except for her thesis, early in the campaign, but cannot take a breath without seeing more Sarah Palin slander. What bothers me most is that our country is so deeply divided. The political parties have been reduced to bullying street gangs and they are taking down the American people with them.
I abhor the emails I've been getting for the past year, with all the lies and smearing. I find it hard to believe that they are being sent and perpetuated by some even highly educated people. Why? What is the axe they have such a need to grind? They claim, "oh, it's just in fun." And granted, some are hilarious. But most are hurtful, nasty and mean.
Great fun!
FWIW, personally I'd love to see a Palin thesis.
Just like the energizer bunny. We just keep going…
