Poll on White Democrats not voting for Obama because he's black!

Good point, Carolyn. I read the article, too. My feeling is that people should be voting for the candidate they feel will do the best job, no matter what his race... or gender... or age. There are much more important things at stake.

In other words, don't think people should be voting for Obama because he is black. I also don't think they should not vote for him because he is black. It simply shouldn't be an issue. But sadly, it seems that it is.

Well, I don't think anyone is really surprised about this. I guess we can only hope that enough people are able to look past the color of the candidates' skin.

I vote for the person not the party. And it matters not to me their color but who is best qualified to lead our nation. As of now, NONE OF THE ABOVE!

It's really saying something sad about us as a nation if there are still so many who put race into this. I think that some would rather have Bush 4 more years than a black man, even hating the way things have been. It's just......sad.

Some Dems would have voted against Hillary Clinton also because of her sex. I say so what? There will always be backwards and ignorant people and just because they are that way doesn't mean we should stay as is for their sakes.

Bill you're leaving out the Repblicans who will not vote Obama for the SAME reasons....I think they would be greater.

So as for Dems.....if they don't vote for Obama they are stupid and sad.

I fear that we shall all pay for racism.

The color of one's skin has nothing to do with the abilities they have. One thing that Obama doesn't have is experience to hold the highest office in the land. By the way you are using the days of slavery as a cop out. That has nothing to do with anything these days. You are what you make yourself, not by what your ancestors went through. I have a lot of black friends that will say the same thing!

It's amazing to me that people just can't focus on the issues instead of color. I'll be voting for McCain, but it's certainly not because he's white...

Sadly, this is not surprising news. I will vote for Obama, not because he is black but because of his platform. However, I will say it is high time that our country matures enough to cope with the prospect of a person of color holding our highest office.

As I first suggested two years ago, Barack Obama will become the 44th President of the United States and I am ecstatic. It's time, it's my time, it's our time. Not to delve too deep philosophically here, but heed my words: "I cannot carry the world on my shoulders, but on my shoulders, it is my world that must carry me."

I agree, I do not care if Obama is African-American or Arab-American (as some article claim regarding his ancestry). But, I DO care about his ideas and his plans for our rights, freedoms, and Constitution.

He may have studied Constitutional Law, but that does NOT make him a Constitutionalist. In fact, nothing he's said indicates he even recognizes it.

I really care about his mentors during his formative years that drive his paradigm today. His speeches tell the truth, if you listen for it instead of what you WANT to hear.

I didn't vote for him because I am a Christian.

I didnt vote for him even though he sounded good and he did have some good ideas... I couldnt figure out where the money was going to come from for these nice little projects that he talked about.... If this country is so broke , how are we going to get around this?
As far as not voting for him because he is black... I dont believe that the Dems didnt vote for him for this reason... Actually, he made into office someway, now how did this happen, if they didnt vote for him> I think the media, trys to stir up the people and alot of what is in the media isnt true....
