Obama is a dangerous man

September 19, 2008 08:02 PM EDT

Here kid, here's a piece of candy for you if you do what I want.  That's what he's promising.

He wants to raise the minimum raise again.  So, what's the incentive for people to get educated or learn a trade?  Then, he wants to give everyone who works full time and earns minimum wage $1100.

So, don't give me a raise, right?

Now, who pays for the wage increase?  The businesses owned by evil people who work hard for a living, and they will now, raise their prices.

Who will pay for the $1100.  to each minimum wage earner.  Me?  The taxpayer, who worked to get an education and pay taxes?

Finally, if Obama is for the poor people, why is he flying around in his Lear Jet and attending parties by Liberal Hollywood stars for $28,000 a pop?

Why?  Because Obama is a dangerous man!

Good article I am scared of him myself. Espically from the start when he didn't say the pledge to our flag.

Honestly, Michigan raised the minimum wage 3 times over the past 2 years- ending the raise at 7.90/hr. It started at 5.25/hr.

All it did was cause small and large businesses to let employees go, cut hours, and raise costs. The cost of living went up in correlation to the hike in the minimum wage. It was an ineffective move. Any positives were immediately negated.

To top that off, government assistance programs did not raise the cost of living numbers, so people who were barely scraping by on minimum wage, and getting assistance for day care, for example, are now making too much to get state assistance, so even as their cost of day to day life has gone up, they've had to add in the costs of day care.

OK where to start.

He wants to raise the minimum wage so there people wont want to get an education...yes I can see people making the $8.20 an hour not wanting to go to medical school.

Do you make over $250,000 a year? If not you will also get lower taxes. I dont know about the $1100 to everyone thing. My hubby makes $60,000 a year and Bush gave us $1800.

No one is saying business is bad or rich are bad but why is it that people like McCain and Bush want to let them off scott free. Clinton taxed the rich and our economy was just fine and the job market was great.

So you would rather YOUR tax dollars bail out AIG,\.....interesting. I dont want mine to...so since you are so gung ho for corporate welfare could you pay my share too?

Finally, if Obama is for the poor people, why is he flying around in his Lear Jet and attending parties by Liberal Hollywood stars for $28,000 a pop?

Its called fundraising you dont think McCain and Palin do it?

Bill Gates has 3 lear jets and gives time and money to very good causes.

Shaunee get a clue and read snopes.

So Carol now you tell me why you like McCAin and Palin.

How do you think McCain gets from place to place.

And how many houses does he own? He doesnt even know.

your logic is flawed.

Iowa raised its minimum wage to $7.25 and we have one of the best economies around...sorry Princess Spanky...Michigans economy was based on the auto makes who have moved much of their business out of the country while still enjoying their American tax breaks.

What I find truly scary is the economy today.

McCain is an extention of GWB. At least with Bush he had the Clinton surplus to work with...McCain would come in with the biggest deficient on record and add to it.

4 years with McCain and we would be begging for money from Darfur.

And Obama is talking about giving the poorest of the poor some money..why is that such a problem?

I would rather my tax dollars go for that than staying the course in Iraq for 100 years and bailing out corporations who give their hardworking CEO's $110 million dollar bonus while paying their welfare working employees minimum wage and no benefits.

All I can say is THANK YOU LORI F. I was sitting here shaking in my boots when I read these other comments, because really, people like them, SCARE ME. And I think your last comment makes a wonderful point, 4 year with McCain and Darfur will seem more than wealthy to the U.S.A, thank you for spitting some truth. I'm honestly not as politically savvy as I'm working on being, but when I am I hope that I can make as great of points as you have. However, I do know enough to know that I do not want a president who has a running mate that at one time tried to ban books from a library. That is ENOUGH for me.

Carol you make no sense.

And even if you do feel that the reasons you state are your reason for not voting for Obama I still dont get the scary/dangerous thing.

So Obama supports the poor so he is scary....my guess is something else.

And yes that makes YOU and people like you scary than even Palin.

Have a good nite Carol.

So Heather did it also start before there was a new minimum wage enacted because the automakers started moving from MI back in the 1980's.

BTW my uncle lives in Battle Creek and works for the government so I do know quite a lot about MI politics

Obama talks a good game but doesn't do anything different than any other ambitious politian. He just puts a nice spin to things. Lower Taxes, health care for all. Never a word on how he'll Realistically pay for any of it except taxing the rich. Just won't work yet he continues lying to the American People...Thats why he's scary.
Takes money hands over fist to fuel a dishonest campaign. His follows traipse blindly behind him hacking private email, telling college kids to write disparaging essays about Palin, excepting contributions from failing institutions and their dishonest CEO's then giving those same people places among his hierarchy...and the list could go on for ever...Thats why he's scary

Kathy really were is the proof that Obama had Palins email hacked? You want to talk realistic.

McCain wants to lower everyones taxes institute costly programs...maintain the surge in Iraq....he is dying to go to war with Iran. Now how do you suppose we are going to pay for all this with LESS tax money coming in?

As for lies....Palin and the Bridge to Nowhere....she opposed it..NO she didnt. How convient that you forget the most lies are coming from McCain/Palin...even your Repub god Carl Rove admitted to that.

Janet any place that relies on tourism is suffering now because of high gas prices. Janet sue was commenting about a thread of mine from last night.

scary? I don't see what's so scary about Obama. Maybe that's because I don't make 250K per year. Do you? No? then what are you afraid of. McCain has promised another round of corporate tax cuts that would complete the bankrupting of our nation started by Bush. Now that's scary.

Just about every political article floating around on Gather contains personal prejudices and opinions. Not a darn thing wrong with it, either, unless you happen to disagree with the poster's position.

Hmm...entitlement mentality.

So if you feel entitled to police protection you are reprehensable.

If you feel your children are entitled to a public education you are reprehensable.

If you feel you are entitled to a safe work place you are reprehnsable.

If you feel you are entitled to streets without potholes and bridges that are safe to cross you are reprehensable.

If you feel you are entitled to Social Security because you worked your whole life and want to retire you are reprehensable.

Rachel I see your point.

only the people that can pay for these services should get them.

Both Obuma and McCain are promising tax cuts. WHY? Neither one would have to authority to cut or raise taxes. The House of Representitives does that.

I think they are campaigning on issues that have to value. Would it be to keep our minds away from the real issues?

Neither one is worth a damn so choose poeple, call each other names, scream and holler all you want then vote for the one who you think will do the country the leist harm. Right now it is a toss-up.

I think McCain should get it myself. We know who is behind him. Obama is another matter no one knows who put that turtle up on the post.

To Carol and your other La-La cadre of girls with the skeerdy-pants attitudes. You're only afraid, because your party has told you to be afraid for the past 7 years. Your party operates on fear. You are easily controlled by their raising your level of fear. What you're afraid of now, really, is losing your fear, and being wrong. Well, you are.

And, all you're spewing is hatred of someone whom you have not yet read. I can tell. Before you criticize someone, puleeeeeeze do a little research, rather than repeat stupid lie after stupid lie that you heard from another undereducated person.

Here, my friend, buy and read this book: "Change We Can Believe In--Barrack OBama's Plan to renew America's Promise." from Three Rivers Press. (and before you say anything catty about the proceeds from the book? All Obama for America's net proceeds will be donated to charity. They're just trying to get the word out about what Obama's plans are for saving your thankless pants. Way more info that McCain is spreading about what HIS plans are. Dick and Georgie haven't told him yet what he can and can't do if he ever gets elected. They already told him who to run with.

But, gee! What you have served this country up by putting Dubya in office is the crash you are watching RIGHT NOW! And they're trying to blame it on a younger senator. YOUR BOY has been representing the rich for 26 years. If he wanted to make a difference he would have done so by now...don't you think?

If you want four more years of the same old same old "Good Ole Boys Club" that you claim Biden belongs to...just vote for McSame. A Good Ole Boys Club is his base of operations. Look at Rove. Look at Rumsfield. Cheny? Well, actually, I guess they are BAD OLD boys.

Back-atcha sista' Your party has had 7 years of lies and war and money making.
You live in a stagnant market, where the internal and external value of the American Dollar is falling, and we owe trillions (TRILLIONS) of dollars of debts. And now we have to bail out all the RICH STOCK OWNERS because your party passed legislation by tagging a porker onto a bill the week before congress recessed, that LIMITED REGULATION on this particular market, and Both your wonderful would be leaders voted for it.

So, hey. Please don't vote. We're ready to clean up all your messes...just get out of the way while we do it. You can go sit in the corner and whine about how it's not fair, and you're scared. Well, gee!

She thinks that America has a entitlement mentality but people dont step back and realize all the services they get now that are paid with tax dollar they just look at the services like food stamps and so called welfare or something they personally dont use or agree with and whine about it but when it comes time for them to call the police or an ambulance they feel they are entitled to it...see what I mean?

Ah, ok. I thought your response was a tiny bit over the top, but I gotcha. Truth be told, I'm not anti-taxation. And I DO think that it's 'fair' in a way to have something of a sliding scale when it comes to taxes. I DON'T like governmental waste, and I don't like how so many people like to lay that waste at W's door. He's not a great president, no, but let's remember that Congress has a lot of control, too. Dems have to take a share of the responsibility for where the country is today too, and a lot of Obama supporters just don't want to do that.

Sherry the problem I have with Congress is that they have done nothing. Up until 2006 the president, congress and house of rep have been republican they are IMHO responsible for getting us into this mess...since 2006 when the Dems took over all but the white house I hold them responsible for not doing anything to stop it.

I'm not hot on Peeps myself. ;)

When it comes to politics, I try to be as centrist as I can be. There are some issues I absolutely refuse to bend on, and those issues will determine who gets my vote in any given election. More than anything, though, I think it's important to be respectful of what other people think. I know what *I* think, and I know that beating me over the head (in writing or verbally, of course) will do nothing to change my mind. Factual information from an unbiased source (not that any of those exist anymore, ha ha) make me *think*, but aggressive, unkind responses and comments only work to increase polarization.

Not that any of that had anything to do with what you've said, Lori. Just typing aloud, I guess I could say. I don't agree with you merely because I see things differently, but I definitely appreciate respectful reciprocal exchanges of ideas. :)

Sherry, another baby doll....this Obama supporter knows everything about the candidates, both of them... 1999, mr Gramm now economic adviser to Mccain introduced a deregulation act for banks and blurred the lines between banking and Wall street.
That act made it possible for mortgages to be bundled a financial instruments to be sold here and in the world....reason if we fall others may fall also....

Before you blame look up information and learn or you just look foolish in your condemnation.
The democrats voted against the act except on from NC.

I know. :) I just don't like it. I don't like it when McCain supporters get on Obama supporters, and I don't like it when Obama supporters get on McCain supporters. Carol started this post to state her opinion... I've seen tons of articles started by Obama supporters stating their opinions about McCain... actually, more about Palin than McCain but that's neither here nor there. I just don't see that it accomplishes anything to continually post 'you're an idiot' or 'you're crazy for having that opinion' and the like. We're all entitled to think what we wish. That's one of the things that's awesome about living here right now, all problems considered.

Educational moment: from Change We Can Believe In:

Restore Fairness to Bankruptcy Rules.
Barack Obama opposed the 2005 bankruptcy law, which favored banks over working families. As President, Barak Obama will restore fairness to our bandkruptcy laws by providing an exemption for people who can priove they filed for bankruptcy because of medical expenses and expanding protections for military families and victims of natural disasters. He also will close the loopholes in bankruptcy law that prevents families from renegotiating their mortgages so they can keep their homes." Page 41

What, about that, doesn't sound right to you?

I do not think Obama dangerous and neither do many GOP Senators. I fact check, have read Obama's web page and Senate voting record and just wonder why people are so duped into believing lies. I dislike partisan bashing. Obama is a good caring man.

Obama is dangerous but only to the republican neocons and their followers.

Can anyone imaging these wing nuts saying Obama is dangerous after all their neocons have done what they have just done to destroy our economy, murder over one and a half million innocent people in Iraq and nobody knows how many they are murdering in Afghanistan yet because the wing nuts are still in denial.

Yes Obama is dangerous to the tax free wealthy, corporate fascists, republican propaganda, and anyone that is brain dead enough to listen to Bush as he stumbles over his tongue.

Ah, the usual drivel. If we don't support Obama, it's because we've "been told to be afraid", we can't think for ourselves, we're a bunch of lemmings, blah blah blah. I have done my research, and that's why I don't support him, not because someone told me what to think.

Need more reasons? Here are a few.

Small main street businesses would be forced to pay tax rates as high as 62.3% under Senator Obama’s tax proposals.1

Senator Obama’s tax plan would tax small businesses at a higher rate than Wal-Mart!2

Taxes on retirement income and savings could increase by at least 33%, hitting millions of seniors when they need these resources the most.3

4 million workers over the age of 50 – those eagerly looking forward to retirement – would be hit with increased tax bills. 4

Millions of Americans would only keep 38 cents of every dollar that they earn.5

Senator Obama’s tax plan would reduce the after tax wages of millions of workers by 17.7%.6

It will take 227 days per year, nearly 8 months, just to pay your tax bill!7

97,065 carpenters, 110,908 police officers, 254,992 nurses, 208,562 postsecondary teachers and 237,000 dentists would see tax increases, if the earnings cap was successfully eliminated.8

10.3 million workers would see an average of $5,650 taken from their paycheck and given to government programs.9

More hot air. You "conveniently forget" that Obama's plan has a provision for low income families of, I beleive 1100, right off the top, so this is just more lies.

No one is saying business is bad or rich are bad but why is it that people like McCain and Bush want to let them off scott free. Clinton taxed the rich and our economy was just fine and the job market was great.

I remember it differently. He taxed us, we weren't rich. We were making about $60,000 a year and Clinton hit us with a tax increase. We were just lucky that we didn't have anyone to put through college or deep in debt on credit cards. We managed, but it wasn't wonderful.

" if Obama is for the poor people, why is he flying around in his Lear Jet and attending parties by Liberal Hollywood stars for $28,000 a pop?"

Because it takes a lot of campaigning and a lot of money to offset the nonsense that is spewed by the opposition. What's McCain flying around in, an ultralight?

Btw, did you hear that McCain didn't know how many houses he has?

Also, are hollywood stars ok if they are not liberal? You know, Fred Thompson, Ronald Reagan and the like.

No not all hollywood starts are liberal, a few can think for themselves, and dont need a candidate with a Messiah Complex. Another actor I can think of who does not fall into this catagory would be John Voight.

Does anyone still believe in "trickle down" economics after the past 8 years? Not me, I'm ready to try "trickle up". Give the middle and lower classes more to spend and the companies who deserve it will prosper, thereby creating more jobs and keeping prices down.

The deregulation of the financial industry and the corporate greed McCain supported and continues to support is what led to to the meltdown on wall street, which threatens to jeopardize retirement savings and the financial security of all Americans. McCain was among 7 senators given a "Zero" on conservation and the environment, and refused to support legislation to protect the planet.

He is all bluster when it comes to foreign relations -- even worse than Bush.

That sounds pretty dangerous to me.

I am new here to Gather but really enjoy all the different conversations! I am from Iowa, as well, and yes, we do have a very strong economy.....Iowa sure isn't hurting like a lot of other places.....for this, I am very thankful.
I truthfully am very frightened of Obama..........he has never had any experience in foreign relations and dealing with terrorism.....that's what especially frightens me. I try, however, to keep the television off ALL politics and would much rather watch cartoons, the Disney channel or Nick At Night.........puts me in a much happier frame of mind!!!

Obama is scary. We don't even know how he got is high in the democratic party Who has put him there?. Who does he owe favors to? For as young as he is. He just came up from nowhere. He has no experiance. He is a very rich man. Where and when did he make all of his money. No he is not one of us!
The reson McCain doesn'y know how many houses if because they belong to HIS WIFE! not him. They were left to his wife by her father when he died

Deloris, you probably haven't read a newspaper or watched TV news in the last six years. Obama's speech at the 2004 Democratic convention made a big national splash. Charisma has something to do with his rise but it doesn't hurt that he's intelligent and competent.

McBush and his Bush agenda will leads down a path to WWIII. McCain is not the maverick he and his party makes him out to be. Just take a look at his voting record which mirrors Bush's anti Constitution agenda.

He is the person I am afraid of.
