Reflections on a Summer Afternoon - Photo essay

One of my favorite hobbies is taking photographs around the lake.  It's beautiful in all seasons, but I especially like to snap reflection shots when the water is very still.

Clouds are reflected in the water in soft swirls.

Sometimes, the lake is like a mirror.


This is the quiet of early evening...and the aftermath of the visit from my neighbors' six grandsons!  I have no idea what that is on the shed roof, but I think I know how it got there.

God bless the USA!  I love living in such a beautiful place.

The natural beauty and quiet here are very conducive to feeling the presence of God. Early mornings and golden sunset times are wonderful prayer times. Moonless nights with the sky peppered with clouds, too, display the glory of our Creator.

I see why it brings you such joy. What a beautiful, beautiful lake... I would definitely follow up on getting 'No Wake' signs. It seems a crime to destroy the perfect reflection of the Heavens. Thank you for posting these pictures, I have a better sense of your serenity.:)

Exquisite Jan. Do we attribute our likes or dislikes to the disposition of our inner self. In a way I believe our likes, our inclinations and our tastes have something to do with our attitude towards God and man. The photos you have flashed here portray the serenity and tranquility of a scenary which should appeal to every peaceful soul. Just the other way about is with those who like to watch cruel scenes. Say for example the terrorists. It is in their blood to see people in agony or dying. Cruelty is their look out. Similarly, most people who are muscians, they will never take to cruel deeds. Something that God has infused into all humans.

That is all about it. The flashes are extremely pleasant and appealing to the eye and the mind.

Vinod, this is so beautifully expressed! I can't help but feel a thrill when surrounded by so much natural beauty. When my children were small and excited to see beautiful sunsets, rivers and other natural resplendence, I would say "Isn't it wonderful? God made this all for us just because He loves us!"

Leo, I wouldn't trade this place. It's our little slice of Heaven.
I was a city kid, born and bred, for 50+ years before we bought this house. When we go back to the city, I have good memories, but can't wait to get back home.

These are beautiful photos. Lakes are so quiet and wonderful for taking pictures. I like looking at them & rembering when we used to go to Silver Lake every summer. Thanks for stirring up those good memories in me.
