BLACK IN AMERICA. Part 2 - My Personal Perspective. Why I Say Enough Is Enough.

On July 22nd & 23rd CNN continues its investigation of the most challenging issues facing African-Americans with "Black in America 2." Soledad O'Brien reports on people who are using ground-breaking solutions to transform the black experience.

Let me begin by saying that I am sick and tired of African American people being dissected, diagnosed and picked apart as if we some alien invader.  Yes we have our faults.  Yes we can and should do better.  And I don't look anywhere but from within for improving the situation that many in the Black community face on a daily basis.

Saying that, we will never, ever be fully integrated into American society if we continue to be perceived as a lab animal.  We are not some freak of nature created in a laboratory.   I don't have to tell you how African Americans have overcome so many seemingly insurmountable obstacles allowing us to excel in entertainment, sports, business and the ultimately occupying the White House.  Once again we have our faults and yes we can and should do better.

I know that many can't resist blaming African Americans for all the ills that our country suffers from.  I know that African Americans were blamed by many for the collapse of the housing market.  I know that African American woman are labeled as "Welfare Queens.  I know that many people still get chills if they find themselves crossing paths with a young African American male on a dimly lit lonely street.  I know these feelings because even I started to believe the hype until I took a closer look at the situation and decided to take a reality check. There are just as many jobless White women as jobless Black women appearing on the Maury Povich show looking for their "babies daddy".  Both are on the public dole.

You see, crime has no geographical, gender, ethnic or racial boundaries.  People of all races rape, murder, pillage and populate our detention centers.   And don't tell me about statistics.  It does not make the victims of crime feel any better if someone of their own race raped them, a friend or family member.   What difference does it makes if a friend or family member is murdered by someone of their own race?

Now let me tell you why I believe that CNN feels that Black In America may be warranted.  It's because the historians, history books and educators have failed the American people.  Their exclusion of the many contributions by African Americans to the development, growth and greatness of our country is a major factor in the perception of  African Americans.  Our ancestors went above and beyond duty in their efforts to be accepted as equals.  Can you imagine how it must have felt to serve your country during World War II, only to return home and be treated worse than Nazi prisoner of wars?   Imagine walking in the shoes of  Col. Benjamin O. Davis, Jr., commander of the Tuskegee Airmen 332nd Fighter Group.

The Tuskegee Airmen were dedicated, determined young men who enlisted to become America's first black military airmen, at a time when there were many people who thought that black men lacked intelligence, skill, courage and patriotism.

By the end of the war, the Tuskegee Airmen were credited with 109 Luftwaffe aircraft shot down, the German-operated Italian destroyer TA-23 sunk by machine-gun fire, and destruction of numerous fuel dumps, trucks and trains. The squadrons of the 332nd FG flew more than 15,000 sorties on 1,500 missions. The unit received recognition through official channels and was awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation (DUC) for a mission flown March 24, 1945, escorting B-17s to bomb the Daimler-Benz tank factory at Berlin, Germany.

It's really sad that historians, educators and history books excluded these true stories from the history classes that many of us took, but it still doesn't change my feeling that I am sick and tired of African American people being dissected, diagnosed and picked apart as if we some alien invader.

It's time to begin to realize that we have more in common than  in which we differ.  Lack of affordable health care, high unemployment, crime, unaffordable secondary education and the hosts of other issues affecting our country knows no boundaries.  The sooner we understand this, the better off we will all be.

Finally I want you to take a look at the following video and tell me if this "Great American" brings anything other than divisiveness and hate to our American experience.

In my opinion, it does those of us who play by the rules no justice at all.  The majority of African American people are plain and simply God Fearing people only seeking peace and prosperity via hard work.  That is the real story of being "Black In America".

Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 4:25pm EDT
Hi Vivian.

That is why I think we should stop looking at the differences and realize that we have much more in common.

you happen to be correct in your assessment in my opinion also

Thanks for posting
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 4:26pm EDT
Thanks Richard.

I'm really tired of being analyzed as if we are some freak of nature. Could you imagine a CNN Special, "White In America"?
jJack Midknight Jul 18, 2009, 4:39pm EDT
what, you've never heard of the angry white man and the endless analysis of why he's supposedly angry ???
Bunny B. Jul 18, 2009, 4:45pm EDT
You don't need to have a "whites in America". You just need to turn on any TV or open ANY mag or watch any movie. They are everywhere and they are the ones calling the shots. That is why we need to know more about other people. I enjoy studying other cultures and ethnicity. Why is it wrong.?
jJack Midknight Jul 18, 2009, 4:50pm EDT
who said it was wrong ??

it is when your politics center upon the identity of your skin color you get problems.

Dano C. Jul 18, 2009, 4:59pm EDT
Hi Lloyd, My first question was how much are they paying these guys to script what they are saying? Do they even hear their own words?

I don't know Obama's church or his minister, but I can tell quite a bit about his character from what he stands for. There is no religious test for office in America. It should stay that way.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Aug 1, 2009, 2:53pm EDT
Hi Dano.

Injecting President Obama's Church or minister into the debate is only a way of side tracking the enormity of what occurred here in the United States. The election of our 44th President was a big deal. Many barriers were broken. The peaceful transition of one political party to another headed by a person of color was groundbreaking. Many have yet to realize what really happened. They wake up in the middle of the night sweating profusely hoping that it was all a dream.

As long as you continue to identify yourself as "African American," I have to believe problems will occur.

I believe as long as you insist upon Affirmative Action, problems will occur.

I believe as long as you demand special "hate crimes" laws to protect you, problems will occur.

I believe as long as your politics centers upon "black identity," problems will occur.

Special awards shows, special sports awards, special special special--- I believe as long as anyone considers themselves anything but AMERICANS, problems will occur.

There is a dichotomy in the black commununity, with the two very different forces of assimilation, and "hip hop culture" fighting for dominance.

On the one hand, you see the Huxtables, on the other, you see Dr. Dre and NWA.

As long as MLK's dream of a colorless society is pushed aside by the "black leaders" of this country, I believe there will be problems.
Vivian P. Jul 18, 2009, 4:05pm EDT
so as long as we identify ourselves as European, Native, Mexican, Japanese and so on and so forth Americans isn't it the same thing ?
jJack Midknight Jul 18, 2009, 4:09pm EDT
It sure is, though beyond the ethnic Thunderdome, very few "identify" with the color of their skin.

Is there a "white caucus" in the Congress ??

Is there a special awards show put on for the "Advancement of White People" ???

Is there a White Defense Fund ???

Such things would cause outrage among the "minorities" if they existed.
Vivian P. Jul 18, 2009, 4:20pm EDT
we all identify with our heritage to some point. And we should all be very proud of where we come from.
All of those "groups" were needed when founded. Many still are because many people seem to judge others charterer by the way a person looks and not by the merit of their being.
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 4:21pm EDT
jJack you've made some great points. These things keep us SEPARATED instead of united.

Black posters are the first to call me racist when I disagree with Obama and his policies. Oh, their picture isn't posted, however, the comments are a dead giveaway. I proudly post my picture and stand behind my comments.

The problem/issue is the problem/issue, NOTHING to do with color. Likewise, those who support bad "change" just because he is black or African American (which is politically correct these days?) are the real racists. They want it to APPEAR he is successful, while the opposite is so obvious.

I want our President to succeed - we just haven't had a good one in decades. Stop blaming Bush - blame them all, if you must.

Better yet, quit blaming and pull yourself up by the boot straps and go to work to BE the change you want to see. Others will SEE the change and a domino effect will take place. People don't respect able bodied people, of any color, who just hold out their hands for MORE and MORE and MORE. Enough free is never enough free.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 5:22pm EDT
Jack stop it with "Black Identity". No one ever complains about people labeling themselves as Irish American, Italian American, Asian American, etc., etc., etc.

Jack more than anyone, Black people have the right to identify themselves as "African Americans". Blacks were forcibly removed from Africa and bought to this country as opposed to others whom voluntarily came to our shores.

Stop it with the Affirmative Action talk. Don't you think that hiring people from the "Good Ole Boy's Network", such as "Good Job Brownie" is a form of Affirmative Action? How about George Bush nominating Harriet Myers for a Supreme Court position?

Tell me how Arabian Horse trader "Good Job Brownie" was qualified to be head of FEMA?

Leo Lemmer Jul 18, 2009, 5:54pm EDT
jJack, you are wrong. Blacks need what you denounce because they are in an early stage of tolerance. My group German-Americans no longer need such.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 6:08pm EDT
Leo he will soon accuse you of having "White Guilt" for sharing your opinion. Don't you know that White people aren't supposed to empathize with Black people on any issue? What's wrong with you?
jJack Midknight Jul 18, 2009, 7:24pm EDT
Stop it ??? *chuckle*

Stop making sense ???

YOU should stop seeking special compensation for the ills of a society long past.
Marilyn M. Jul 18, 2009, 7:48pm EDT
I think that we should all be proud of our heritage. My family is Scottish and German. But that's not what we're talking about here. We're talking about skin color. Until everyone stops focusing on that, there will be problems.

Lloyd, you're right that we should acknowledge the successes of persons with dark skin as much as those with light. When I was a kid, I thought it was it was strange that the only black man we ever studied was George Washington Carver. Surely there were more famous people who originated in Africa. Thankfully, our kids get more information about that now, especially since there is a Black History Month.

But we should be perfectly honest about our history. We should admit the good and the bad (and the ugly). We should admit that sometimes horrible mistakes were made, that people made wrong judgements. But we should also be going forward now, and instead of focusing on mistakes, we should be learning how not to keep making them.

We should all remember the old Cherokee Legend.

An old Cherokee was teaching his grandson about life. He said that inside he had a fight going on between two wolves. One was evil - and contained anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, lies, inferiority and superiority, and all manner of other negatives. The other wolf was good - ull of joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and all manner of positives.

The grandfather explained that we all have these same fights going on inside of us. The grandson asked his grandfather which wolf would win, and the old Cherokee answered, "The one you feed."
Dexter S. Jul 19, 2009, 5:51pm EDT
jJJack, your comments are a perfect example of most Whites "not getting it".. admit it... you have resentments towards minorities and that drives you ideas...... You would love it if everyone thought, acted and looked like you!... Marilyn just tries to legitimate her racist attitudes, its all typical white BS that I grew up with.... you just can’t get it because you can’t identify and actually don’t want to be responsible for your contribution to the problems.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 19, 2009, 6:50pm EDT
Yikes!!!

Now Dexter tell them how you really feel. lol
jJack Midknight Jul 22, 2009, 8:08pm EDT
Dexter, thank you for yet another psycho-analysis from a virtual shrink. Your ability to "diagnosis" is astounding and your insight and wisdom keen.

Not sure why CNN would have any legitimacy, per se to do one show on Black Amerca and they did two. Go figure. And Fox's Hannity attacked the show - the battle of spinmeisters at work I suspect.

Agree that when the Anglo-Male owned/domiiated press decides to profile, dissection/examination of any race or ethnic group, they almost always get things wrong but that's more because their model of examining anything, anymore, is wrong-headed, commercially oriented, and researched by people who are not quite sure what happened for sure ten minutes ago, let alone 10, 20, 100 years or more ago.

Sub-prime aspect of present collapse of the economy was caused by same people in charge of last two bubble markets (Savings and Loan scandal and the Internet/IT bubble market). Those people are the heads of banks, insurance companies, stock brokers, pension fund managers, who were given a "pass go and collect as much as you can steal" card from President Raygun and his cronies, then Bush League Presidents George and Dubya and their cronies.

Money for nothing is a disease or moral virus that respects no particular race, ethnic group, education level, religion.

The student loan hoax has yet to come home to roost but it will soon. didn't you all notcie that there are 10-20 schools you never heard of ten yeas ago, advertising on TV to get educated online or in your neighborhood that will make your dreams come true?

$40,000 on average for a 2-year degree that's worthless because it too us just about getting people to borrow lots of money, sell the loan, look good, teach nothing and harass people for years to collect and even garnishee your paycheck that you are still getting from Mickey D, WalMart, or whatever ,

Don't apologize for anything Lloyd! Let's make sure that the Rayguns and the Bush Leaguers never see the first line in DC again!
jJack Midknight Jul 18, 2009, 4:03pm EDT
*chuckle* white guilt is so amusing
Vivian P. Jul 18, 2009, 4:06pm EDT
I am not feeling guilty I am looking at the whole picture here
I am not all white, beside before I am a race, a sex or an age I am a human being.
jJack Midknight Jul 18, 2009, 4:13pm EDT
Who said you were ??

My comment was directed at Ned, he of the wild haberdashery and of recycled silliness.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 5:34pm EDT
"*chuckle* white guilt is so amusing"

Jack how in the world to you come to the conclusion that Ned's reply was an indication of "White Guilt"?

I just don't see it.
jJack Midknight Jul 18, 2009, 7:27pm EDT
Of course you don't "see" it, as you BELIEVE the silliness he spews.

You are of the same mind, believing our institutions are inherently bankrupt and corrupt.

Why should you "see" it ???
Don(time to open them FEMA camps) S. Jul 18, 2009, 7:54pm EDT
Linda doesn't have a clue what fascist even means.
As for the bigot jjjjjack he doesn't have a clue about anything.

Yes. Indeed.
What. Don. Said.

Wilka
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 19, 2009, 7:17pm EDT
Many use words such as fascism and socialism to expand their agenda of confusing those whom oppose our duly elected President. I'm glad that there are those of us who take them to task for doing that.
Linda A. Jul 26, 2009, 6:11pm EDT
Don, et all. Fascism???

I'd recommend checking out this book, Liberal Fascism by Jonah
Goldberg. The introduction has a nice explanation of how he defines
fascism and why it's hard to define.

Part of the problem is that many people don't want it defined so it can be used as a generic label for "I disagree with that so I'll call if fascist". Stalin started doing
that in earnest.

The book has been a great read. It goes through history of fascism in the West. I didn't put two and two together before and never really thought about how the Western fascist state matured in the United States first, and then moved into Europe.

This validates my belief that the U.S. has been a fascist state for
decades, but I've been tenuous in that belief because I could never
nail down the word "fascism" very well.

At least get the book from your library and read the introduction
entitled "Everything You Know About Fascism Is Wrong".

Linda A. Jul 27, 2009, 6:37pm EDT
Did ANYONE get this book to expand their understanding of fascism or care to remain ignorant of the word and it's utilization?
We don't want to look foolish when we accuse others of not knowing what it means.

I find that video appalling ! Distasteful and a disgrace to my fellow human beings

Oh and I do NOT watch Fox News
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 4:39pm EDT
Who cares if you watch Fox news or not? ALL media is fascist and do not give you the REAL news. Wake up and quit blaming Fox.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 5:26pm EDT
"Who cares if you watch Fox news or not? ALL media is fascist and do not give you the REAL news. Wake up and quit blaming Fox."

Linda Fox News claims to be the most watched cable news program. If they are spouting such hatred, why can't I talk about it.

"Wake up and quit blaming Fox."

Sounds like you may have some fascist tendencies.
Elizabeth (This place IS my Soap Opera) O. Jul 18, 2009, 9:14pm EDT
Linda-If ALL media is Fascist then WHY do you care WHICH one someone "picks on"?
Linda A. Jul 26, 2009, 6:13pm EDT

My step-dad won the Bronze Star in the Pacific during WWII and could and couldn't vote in his home town. That's yesterday but is a matter of fact. Today I work in an area that covers the inner city and see food deserts, which are places where grocery stores don't set up shop and fast food places move in and the residents eat fast foods because they are cheaper than healthy foods, get sick and die early. Much of the problems in the African American community can only be addressed by African Americans much like Malcolm X said.

Are there Black leaders today? I'm of the mind to say that there aren't because to be a leader one must have followers.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_desert
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 4:25pm EDT
Good points Brian. When someone sets themselves up as a leader, either by design or by profession, I believe they owe it to their race to carry that banner day in and day out. Once you loose integrity, you never get it back, no matter what you do after that.
Kathy W. Jul 19, 2009, 5:19pm EDT
There is a large "body" of study going on in collages that disputes the very possibility of "race." They claim there is but one race. The Human Race.

That being said, I ask that all clubs, groups, (Bohemian Grove, the KofC, the KKK, the North American Nazi, each and every militia disband immediately.
See? THAT was easy.

Brian / Linda, one does not "set oneself up" as a leader. One simply "leads" by doing the right thing. Doesn't matter if you're pink or purple. The idea is to find the need and fulfil it. It is up to the community to follow--or not.
Wilka

Your point about history is spot ON. They ignored the contributions made to this country because of color alone. I've read several articles where the govt. enslaved many blacks and performed experiments on them, and injected them with vaccines (un-tested) to see how they would react. Big Pharma now does this in India where the poorest of the poor reside and are human guinie pigs.

I don't have the links, but have read it over and over.

The govt. and fascist media are behind keeping people of difference races pitted against each other. If we were united, we could outnumber the traitors in govt.

More black men are in prison for drugs/drug dealing than any other race. Corporatists - friends of the fed. govt. build and operate these prisons taking huge amount of our tax dollars. The U.S. govt is the largest drug dealer in the world! CIA handles that - day in and day out.

They target black men in poor communities, as they are undereducated and easy prey. Thus, takes them away from further education and from taking care of their families.

I don't believe in inter-racial marriages; Ultimately, it is none of my business. But I do believe in equality for all.

It's time we all stand up and be counted. Freedom means freedom and equal justice for everyone, under our Constitution and our Bill of Rights.

One more thought, Lloyd. I think that successful blacks, whether in sports or whatever career, should be in the poor communities day and night to change their circumstances. Every now and then you hear of one who gives back, but way to rare. Same goes for successful people of all races. Giving back is the most rewarding gift you receive - yes, receive.
Vivian P. Jul 18, 2009, 4:30pm EDT
"It's time we all stand up and be counted. Freedom means freedom and equal justice for everyone, under our Constitution and our Bill of Rights."
Agreed and this should include same sex marriages too.
and excuse meeeeeee but it id more Hispanic men who are in prison !
"I don't believe in inter-racial marriages" well I sure as hell do !!!!!!!!!!!!!
In fact it isn't up you or anyone else to believe in or not.
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 4:36pm EDT
Vivian - I am entitled to MY belief, and also stated it was none of my business - can you read?

As far as same sex marriages... a marriage license does not make a marriage. If you find a church of like-minded people, and they "marry" you, what is the difference? A license is only a way of tracking you and taking your money - it is un-constituional, if you really think about it, as are all nonsensical licenses.

And equal rights are equal rights. Do away with licenses and the problem is solved.

I think you all should be as miserable as the rest and when you want to "get out of it" you will not need thousands of dollars and/or a lawyer. Think about that!
Vivian P. Jul 18, 2009, 4:46pm EDT
First iff dear I am straight ?
I can read or I wouldn't have commented and it seems to me dear you are the one with the attitude !
Lastly I am a product of " Inner breeding or marriage" as well as more than a few very accomplished people.
Bunny B. Jul 18, 2009, 4:51pm EDT
Just when I thought ignorant comments were dwindling down here is someone saying they don't believe in inter-racial marriages! How far back does racism go to be current?

How can someone still think that way?
jJack Midknight Jul 18, 2009, 4:52pm EDT
inner breading ???

do you mean to say incestuous ????
jJack Midknight Jul 18, 2009, 4:56pm EDT
Uh, Bunny, the Nation of Islam, through Brother Louis Farrakhan, continues to promote the idea of "diluting" their "pure" race through inter racial marriages.

The NOI insists inter racial marriages are BAD BAD BAD.....
Vivian P. Jul 18, 2009, 4:58pm EDT
excuse me jJack I meant to say inter-racial breeding.
I was trying yo be crude but I see you are soooooooo much better than i am at it.
jJack Midknight Jul 18, 2009, 5:03pm EDT
asking for clarification is "crude" ???
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 5:04pm EDT
Bunny - Vivian et all. I STILL have a RIGHT to my beliefs, and comments such as yours solidifies that belief. I have no right to tell YOU what to believe so don't call me a racist for my personal belief.

YOUR belief is the one which is racist, not mine, only because you called it "racist".
Vivian P. Jul 18, 2009, 5:09pm EDT
I haven't called anyone a racist ? I just said I didn't believe that it was any of your business. And it isn't any of your business who marries who. I have an old friend who is Islam and he believes as you do. I think he is wrong too.
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 5:12pm EDT
Again, Vivian, you are entitled to your beliefs, as am I. So give it a rest. We all know someone who knows someone who...
Debra (Gather SiteWarrior Extraordinaire) Jul 18, 2009, 5:33pm EDT
Uhm, Linda, you're a racist! I strongly believe that and there's nothing you can do about it.

funny how you just told Vivian not to call you a racist because you have a right to your beliefs then turned around and said HER belief is the one that is racist. such double speak!
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 5:39pm EDT
"I don't believe in inter-racial marriages."

So Linda you don't care if the inter-racial marriage is one of deep love. You just don't like the mixing of colors. Do you have friends and family whom also feel this way? What are you afraid of? What do you fear?
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 6:02pm EDT
People are free to do what they want - I've said that repeatedly. Likewise, I am entitled to MY beliefs w/o question.

What do you think about the fact that most people disagree with you? Are they all wrong and you right?
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 6:10pm EDT
Debra -read that comment you referenced AGAIN.

YOUR belief is the one which is racist, not mine, only because you called it [my belief] "racist".

Hello... does the bold help at all?
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 6:13pm EDT
PEOPLE ARE FREE TO BELIEVE WHAT THEY WANT - PERIOD. Guess what, so am I.

It's not about right or wrong Lloyd, it's a belief. Everything is NOT about right or wrong when it comes to opinions or beliefs. Have I not said these things enough here. Why the continued attack? What is the problem? Freedom of thought and speech is freedom - Period!

You're a racist and a bigot.

Golly, gee whiz, Deb - I guess I'll have to look in the mirror again. I totally missed that. Thank you for pointing that out.

You can call me all the names that roll off your tongue, doesn't make them true. But what you cannot deny, is you live as a victim and want to blame others - in this case - just me for now.

You are entitled to your beliefs, and we are entitled to ask WHY you hold that belief. People do this ALL THE TIME. If you said, "I'm a Christian, and I believe Jesus died on the cross and rose again." I would ask you WHY you believe that. NOW I ask you WHY you believe that people of different colors shouldn't marry.

"NOW I ask you WHY you believe that people of different colors shouldn't marry."

Elizabeth, trying to get an answer to that question is considered a personal attack upon her beliefs. She refuses to share them with us.

Thank you Linda for proving me right when I called you a racist bitch the first time. Then u do what ALL racist do, and that's play the victim. You are right about one thing, u are entitled to your racist opinion. Don't get mad when someone calls a spade a spade
Ali Hussein Lopez Jul 19, 2009, 12:37pm EDT
"I don't believe in inter-racial marriages;"

I'm sure we'd all be fascinated to find out why. Or is that just one of those beliefs that you can't explain?
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 19, 2009, 7:27pm EDT
Linda I believe it's time that you expand upon your statement. Many people are coming to their own conclusions because you won't go into details as to why you have this belief. Don't you think you owe Gather members an explanation as to why you wrote such a controversial statement?
Ali Hussein Lopez Jul 19, 2009, 10:19pm EDT
Lloyd;

The more amazing part to me is that it was totally unecessary to include it in this discussion.

She may as well have said, " Don't look at the point hat and the white sheets, but besides that I'm not a bigot".
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 20, 2009, 12:31am EDT
Ali. You make a good point considering I opened this post by saying,

"Let me begin by saying that I am sick and tired of African American people being dissected, diagnosed and picked apart as if we some alien invader. Yes we have our faults. Yes we can and should do better. And I don't look anywhere but from within for improving the situation that many in the Black community face on a daily basis."

What in the Hell does interracial marriage have to do with that?

Bunny B. Jul 22, 2009, 12:01pm EDT
Linda~You are still racist. It is your right to be racist. Congratulation, your thoughts and ideals make you racist and it IS your right to be racist, racist!

Go out and spread your racist views and see how many people will also let you know how racist your views are.

Just because you have a right to have a hatred in your heart doesn't make it a good thing....does it?

You need to grow the F up because your little brain cannot comprehend human nature.
jJack Midknight Jul 23, 2009, 12:36am EDT
I wonder if Lloyd is ready to ask brother Louis Farrakhan why HE doesn't believe in inter racial marriage.

Is it wrong to be against inter racial marriage ONLY if you are white, or do blacks have "more right than anyone" to promote such ideas???
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 23, 2009, 3:39am EDT
If my "brother" Louis Farrakhan doesn't believe in inter-racial marriage, then I disagree with his position on that issue. I never said their were others whom hold these same views. But Louis Farrakhan didn't comment on this post.
Bunny B. Jul 23, 2009, 12:13pm EDT
I think Farrahkhan is wrong too. Anyone who would oppose two people who love each other is wrong. And just because of skin color?! How incredibly shallow can people really get?
jJack Midknight Jul 23, 2009, 5:35pm EDT
So, you're ready to agree Farrakhan is just as contemptible for his opinion, as you suggest Linda is--- amazing, I didn't think you had it in you.

I agree Lloyd. But it will take a change in thinking from all sides. None of us can change the past. That is a given. The past should never be used as an excuse for our actions in the here and now. We all need to get off the "I am a victim" way of thinking. (Vivian that was way out of line by my thinking). I try to live each day by saying and behaving in a manner that simply says I am responsible for my actions. Not by what happened yesterday or 400 yrs ago.
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 5:06pm EDT
Well stated, Carol. We are each responsible for ourselves and our actions - thoughts, words, and deeds.
Vivian P. Jul 18, 2009, 5:39pm EDT
Carol, The past is what makes us what we are today.
And I am so sorry you find me offensive.
My great grand father worked the railroad that is he helped build the railroad. He stayed in "Colored Camps " ( I hate that word we all are colored ) He was to dark for some and not white enough for others. I guess a little of the bitterness travels down through the years. Oh and I guess it's okay for people to comment to me the way some of these people have ?
Carol Lloyd Jul 18, 2009, 6:23pm EDT
Vivian I just read and reread my comments and I cannot figure out what gave you the impression that I found you or what you said offensive. The past is one of many stepping stones that lead up to today. I refuse to be defined by the lives or actions of others. I am an individual and I am defined my the choices I make. I can a do choose at times to use the reference points of the past to guide me in not making the same mistakes. But when push comes to shove I am responsible. Even if I bought the premise that the past makes us what we are today, I could not allow the influence of the past to go further back than my lifetime. There are some who would say that what has happened to me in my lifetime has a great deal to do with who I am today. If kindness, compassion, caring and doing what I can to change the present then I plead guilty. But the past should never be used to justify the negitive actions I have taken in my lifetime. That would be a cop out, an excuse and I cant do that. Now could you be a bit more specific and tell me what I have said would lead you to believe that I considered your comments offensive. If I didnt ask then I would be allowing you to cast a negitive shadow on my fairness which I do take pride in.
Elizabeth (This place IS my Soap Opera) O. Jul 18, 2009, 9:27pm EDT

"We all need to get off the "I am a victim" way of thinking."

Carol please read the second paragraph of this article. It states the following.

"Yes we have our faults. Yes we can and should do better. And I don't look anywhere but from within for improving the situation that many in the Black community face on a daily basis."

How is that "I am a victim" way of thinking?"
jJack Midknight Jul 22, 2009, 8:27pm EDT
Why do you seem to think YOU get to decide why I am forced to conclude you come from a "victim" mentality???

Do the words "more right than anyone" sound familiar?

The fact is, you DEMAND "special" dispensation DIRECTLY BECAUSE OF PAST INJUSTICES your "people" have received.

The FACT is, unitl you COMPLETELY ERASE the self destructive notions swirling round and round in your head, centered on "slavery," you are DOOMED to your self imposed "victim" status.
Douglas Erisman Jul 22, 2009, 9:14pm EDT
Stuttering Jack,

You take issue with someone expecting "special" dispensation DIRECTLY BECAUSE OF PAST INJUSTICES?

Do you take issue with parents of fallen soldiers receiving "special" dispensation ?

Do you take issue with consumers receiving "special" dispensation ?
jJack Midknight Jul 22, 2009, 9:33pm EDT
Doogie boy, the difference is, those are CURRENT injustices, and are dealt with in REAL TIME.

Slavery is long gone, and though I know it was only the 60s when real civil justice began to occur, I also know the world I live in has no resemblance to the 60s.

Black people of all types, meaning "reasons for being famous" are out there, and looked up to, and even "idolized" by white America.

There is a reason criminal laws (too bad the same doesn't apply to excuses,) generally have a statute of limitation for prosecution.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 23, 2009, 3:50am EDT
"The fact is, you DEMAND "special" dispensation DIRECTLY BECAUSE OF PAST INJUSTICES your "people" have received."

Jack stop trying to put false words in my mouth with the intent of twisting my views.

It amazes me that you refuse to read or acknowledge the second paragraph of this article. Here it is once again. Please pay close attention.

"Yes we have our faults. Yes we can and should do better. And I don't look anywhere but from within for improving the situation that many in the Black community face on a daily basis."

I've Never, Ever DEMANDED "special" dispensation because of past injustices.

Where to you get this stuff from. Show me one quote from anything I've ever written to back up your so-called FACTS.

Jack we will never find common ground if you just blatantly lie about my positions.
jJack Midknight Jul 23, 2009, 10:54pm EDT
Are you telling us you DON'T believe in Affirmative Action or Hate Crimes legislation???

When you endorse such things, based on the color or your skin, and the past injustices committed against "your people," you most certainly are DEMANDING special dispensation from what you perceive as an "unjust" society.

Just because you haven't used the exact words, "I demand special dispensation," doesn't mean you aren't asking for such treatment.

We will never find any common ground if you continue to characterize my opinions as "blatant lies."

The FACT is, you believe in Affirmative Action, don't you ???

The FACT is, you believe in Hate Crimes legislation, don't you ???

IF SO, you demand special dispensation from society, based completely on the color of your skin, whether you are willing to admit your demands honestly or not.

Personally, I watched the first presentation, briefly, out of curiosity and nothing other than curiosity. I was offended at the lack of diversity of living conditions, educational achievement, middleclass ignored and much more. Plus, I was offended that Soledad O'Brien was relegated as the voice of empathy. WThell!

Lloyd how can we--the public stop this ratings pot o gold of CNN? I think we might start a petition of protest to the airings and call them what they are--the UN-AUTHORIZED STUDY of Americans who have no voice. And I do mean ALL Americans, to stop capitalizing on the plight and apply resources to mentor.

The second presentation discusses:
* Journey for Change
* Management Leadership for Tomorrow
* Tuxedo Ball
* Capital Prep
* Post-Viewing Learning Activity
Discuss the success stories you have seen in Black in America 2 and your reactions to them. Then, look around your community for other solutions to the problems facing African-Americans today. Is there a community or church leader, an organization or a business trying to improve the quality of life for others where you live? Conduct interviews with leaders and participants in these programs to help others see what can be learned from their experiences. Produce a video, an online news article or a Web special to share with others, that highlights the positive work being done to address issues facing black Americans.

I did not vote for Barack Obama because he is a black man. I felt he was the better choice between the two good men running for the job. FYI my first choice was Sen. Clinton
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 5:10pm EDT
I did not vote for either Rep/Dem as I thought they were not a choice, but "put forward" by their perspective parties, and the media aided and abetted the choice.

The media ultimately chooses these "for-runners" to promote. I saw no difference in either. Old boss, meet your new boss. New boss, meet your old boss.

"The media ultimately chooses these "for-runners" to promote. I saw no difference in either. Old boss, meet your new boss. New boss, meet your old boss."

Linda that sentence couldn't be further from the truth. It was the foot soldiers and volunteers whom got Barack Obama elected as the 44th President of the United States.

I wrote an article here at Gather about my experience working as a volunteer.

The media didn't tell me to take 2 trains and volunteer my time to work for our duly elected President.

The media didn't tell me to give up my weekends to join others in this common cause.

The media didn't tell me to take out the trash when the trash cans were full at Barack Obama's Philadelphia headquarters.

It was common folks like me that decided it was time for "Change".

Here is what I wrote about here at Gather.
--------------------------------------------------------------

What is was like to be a Barack Obama volunteer. It was a very rewarding experience.

I have to say that this has been an interesting year for me. I worked for the Barack Obama presidential campaign out of their Philadelphia headquarters on Samson Street.

My first job was getting people to register to vote. I put together voter registration packages along with other campaign literature for the foot soldiers. I couldn't put them together fast enough. I'd fill one box and someone would take them and hit the streets. In a couple of hours they would come back with them filled out. We registered thousands of new voters.

My next job was to organize neighborhood meetings for those wanting to volunteer. I made cold calls to people who had recently registered. The positive responses were overwhelming.

After that I was in charge of greeting people as they visited our Philadelphia headquarters. Most people came to get campaign literature, lawn signs and buttons. Before directing them to where they could get this material, I asked them if they would like to be a volunteer. Over 75% of the people walking through the door signed up to volunteer, with many going out in teams of 2 to 4 withing hours.

People came from all over the United States to volunteer for the Barack Obama campaign. I worked side by side with people from Montana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, California, Washington D.C., Florida and elsewhere.

One of my favorite volunteers was a senior citizen with a Jamaican accent from the Bronx, New York. She told me that the had been on buses and trains all day making her way to our Philadelphia office to volunteer. She said she was tired, hungry, her feet were hurting and she needed a place to stay for the night.

I put her in touch with our housing team, we feed her and within 1 hour she was on the phone making cold calls.

It was amazing seeing so many people committed to the campaign. We spent our money wisely. All our cold calling was done on cell phones donated by our staff. Our food was cooked and donated by volunteers. Every other hour you would see food, drinks, fresh fruit, soft pretzels, salads and more coming through the doors. We even had volunteers cleaning the building and taking out the trash.

There was always excitement in the air. There were TV crews in the building everyday. I actually saw myself on Fox News. There were also TV crews from India, South Korea and other countries that visited our Philadelphia headquarters.'

Overall my experience was very rewarding.

You see Linda, this is why President Obama was elected. It wasn't some media conspiracy.
jJack Midknight Jul 23, 2009, 12:44am EDT
wow, now Lloyd takes credit for getting Obama elected. *chuckle*
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 23, 2009, 3:59am EDT
Jack I was only a small part of the process. Just because you choose to sit back and criticize the millions of people who volunteered for our President doesn't make our contributions insignificant.

Did you get off your butt and support your candidate? Tell me how you participated in our Democracy other than spewing hate. The American people saw right through what you and others tried to do to discredit President Obama and made it loud and clear that your positions were empty and stale.

jJack Midknight Jul 24, 2009, 10:35pm EDT
uh, dude.....
I also volunteered for the Obama campaign....
just off Dodge, on 76th street, here in Omaha, Nebraska.....

I no longer look at skin color to make my decisions, I hope one day you can say the same.....
Linda A. Jul 27, 2009, 6:53pm EDT
That's telling THEM jJack - *chuckle*

ACORN was complicit too. Obama obligated the American taxpayers, in his illegal stimulus package, to millions. Also connected them to the Census - probably so they could pay some of those un-registered voters to register with the Dems.

Can we spell and smell "pay-off"??? ACORN is under investigation - you can ck on the details on my posts (if you want a dose of reality)

Johnnice. Simply dont watch it. All the cable/dish boxes share viewers watching habits with each of the stations.
Johnice R. Jul 19, 2009, 8:09am EDT
It is not what I see which bothers me--I do not watch that which offends me. The issue is, for me and other professional Blacks, who have never been exposed to the life depicted, see a feeding of flames of hatred amongst the aggressive hate groups.

Not every Black family grew up in or grew out of a situation of poverty--each of my Black friends and associates come from a long line of professionals and home owners--not one has an experience based in the projects or another deprived area. Blacks forced to inhabit devastated and underserved areas are in our awareness, I am aligned with Lloyd, and I fail to see the value in "UN-AUTHORIZED STUDIES" of any group of people--that is objectifying and wrong.

Caution here, Carol, if you cannot see the point of contention in a message please do not offer your cure--that invalidates your empathy.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 19, 2009, 11:47pm EDT

I think Black people would do themselves a service if they stopped referring to themselves as "African Americans".

""It does not make the victims of crime feel any better if someone of their own race raped them, a friend or family member. What difference does it makes if a friend or family member is murdered by someone of their own race?"""

It matters to the hucksters in the race industry like Al Sharpton and all the other victim peddlers. If six white people target a black kid simply because he is black, and beat the living $hit of of him it's a hate crime. If six blacks do the same thing to a white person, they are victims of being overcharged by a racist prosecutor and it really wasn't their fault because a few months before some white kids hung a nuse from a tree(Jena six).

Black people will always be liberal lab rats as long as they allow themselves to be and as long as the accept being hapless victims..
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 5:43pm EDT
Give me a frigging break. Black people, more than anyone else have the right to identify themselves as "African American". Our ancestors were forcibly bought to these shores unlike others whom voluntarily chose to come.

Sounds like you want our African Heritage to disappear just like that of many Native American tribes.

It's not going to happen so get over it. We know where we are from and are no longer a shamed of that fact.

You know nothing of what you speak.
Jeff H. Jul 18, 2009, 6:04pm EDT
"We"? That's another problem among the long list of hurdles Africans need to address if they want to get out of the rut. You are individuals and really should stop viewing yourselves as pawns of a group.

I don't want your African heritage to disappear but you really should try being proud of your culture rather than looking at your skin color as a burden.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 6:13pm EDT
Obviously you failed to read my post. If you had you would have taken notice of the second paragraph.

"Let me begin by saying that I am sick and tired of African American people being dissected, diagnosed and picked apart as if we some alien invader. Yes we have our faults. Yes we can and should do better. And I don't look anywhere but from within for improving the situation that many in the Black community face on a daily basis."

Jeff if you are going to just write any ole thing off the top of your head, just remember that people like me actually read what is written here.
Debra (Gather SiteWarrior Extraordinaire) Jul 18, 2009, 6:29pm EDT
I think Black people would do themselves a service if they stopped referring to themselves as "African Americans".

I wonder if Cajuns should stop referring to themselves as Cajuns. They were so despised in this country they were shipped to Canada, separated from their families, in hopes they'd never find one another again.
Jeff H. Jul 18, 2009, 6:32pm EDT
Yeah I see the word "we" all over the place. I read the post and I didn't see a lot of pride but a lot of burden being associated with your skin tone.

In my opinion your are a member of the human race. You are an American that happens to be from African decent. And you are only a victim if you chose to be in life regardless of your heritage. It is also my opinion that liberals like those at CNN are desperately trying to keep as many Americans of African decent on the victim plantation because even if overall the promotion of blacks being a subclass group is destructive, it keeps liberals in power through the voting process and it makes the black's voting habits easy to control.

Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 6:52pm EDT
Debra, we are the only people who are supposed to deny our heritage. It's ok to be Chinese, Irish, Italian, Mexican, German, or Polish American, but being African American is a huge "NO NO".

Many just want to forget or ignore how our ancestors "Really" arrived at our shores. We didn't stow away on a ship container. We didn't use the services of a Coyote as many South and Central Americans do. We didn't wade across the Rio Grande river in an attempt to cross our southern boarders. Our ancesters was packed like sardines and forcibly made to come to America.

That is the fact that those whom oppose us identifying ourselves as African Americans don't want to recognize.
Jeff H. Jul 18, 2009, 7:02pm EDT
Lloyd I realise that you got a raw deal and are forced to be an American citizen instead of one of the Africans living it up over there in paradise getting free concerts that always come with a bunch of much needed food. I guess you have a legitimate gripe.

As far as other nationalities I really don't see them referring to themselves as an American second. And those who pay coyotes or swim across the river, they are called illegal aliens.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 7:23pm EDT
Jeff you need to do a Google search of the amount of Americans both Black and White whom frequent food banks. Maybe you should consider organizing a "free concert" for them.

As more and more families struggle to make ends meet, a growing number are now relying on food stamps to buy groceries.

The latest tally shows a record 31.8 million Americans were receiving food stamps by the end of last year, according to a report by the Food Research and Action Center, a national nonprofit group.

That’s over 700,000 more than November and nearly double the number in July 2000, when enrollment fell to its lowest point in decades. While most states saw increases of about two percent, the number of recipients shot up by 20 percent in as many as ten states, led by Idaho, Utah and Florida.

The food stamps program, which was recently renamed the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, is expected to cost the government about $51 billion this year, up from $41 billion in 2008.

Jeff you need to stop it. I would expect you to be above painting Africans the way you do. You have no clue when it comes to the realities on the ground in Africa. You know nothing of famine, drought, war and the lasting effects of colonialism.

When you do some homework, get back to me. Until then, keep your simplistic views of the world to yourself , friends and family.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 7:25pm EDT
P.S. How many Black people do you know whom live in Idaho and Utah? hmmmmmmmmm.
Jeff H. Jul 18, 2009, 7:45pm EDT
Lloyd that was my point. In America when people can't afford food they get food stamps. In Africa they die.

I didn't intend to piss you off but the fact that you use the word "we" when referring to Americans of African descent shows that you are unwittingly trapped on the liberal plantation. It's good to see that you are starting to open your eyes and seeing how ridiculous liberals at CNN are but you have a long way to go.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 19, 2009, 8:54pm EDT
"I didn't intend to piss you off but the fact that you use the word "we" when referring to Americans of African descent shows that you are unwittingly trapped on the liberal plantation."

Jeff, I guess you would have preferred if I had said "we all" or "us people". How else can I describe my personal feelings other than saying "we"?

Stop nit-picking.
Jeff H. Jul 20, 2009, 1:22am EDT
Lloyd, I am a white American. I am a white male. I am an American of Norwegian descent. I NEVER assume to speak for everybody in this group because I know that everybody, regardless of skin color, gender, etc, has their own opinions on everything. It would be ridiculous, and arrogant, to say "we". When you start saying "we" in reference to everybody like you and how everybody like you thinks, CNN does a a show degrading you.

It is also my experience that people in the Americans of African descent community who say "we" are the same ones who call Condi Rice an Aunt Jemimah, or Micheal Steele and Uncle Tom. Those who don't adhere to your "we" club are house Negros and traitors. Oreos.

I am not nit picking I am just pointing out that you are part of the establishment responsible for "Black in America" and are definitely part of the problem.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 20, 2009, 10:56am EDT

Jeff stop making up stories. I have never, ever, ever heard anyone in my circle of friends or in the Black community ever call Condi Rice an Aunt Jemimah, or Micheal Steele an Uncle Tom or Oreo.

Willful self denial astounds and baffles.

Personally I am an American of Greek ancestory. But I am an American first. My grandparents came over of the boat to the USA. So I am second generation born here. Hell, we all came from somewhere else if you look a few generations back. And before the continents broke up there was only one big one so I guess we all have a shared origin.

And there she is again, monopolizing the conversation, proving she's a racist snob, telling everyone else what they should do, pretending to "educate" the rest of us, showing her ignorance for the world to see.

One more thought, Lloyd. I think that successful blacks, whether in sports or whatever career,

Funny how "sports" is where she ended and drew a blank! LOL

As for the "special special special" that Jjack refers to, it has outlived it's original purpose. There was a time when this was the only thing uplifting for those separated from mainstream, white America. Black people are no longer a minority, and most are not even "black". Inter-racial relationships producing offspring runs deep in our country.

Lloyd, you are not the only people in this country that have been separated, dissected and put under a microscope. So are lesbians and homosexuals. Race and gender notwithstanding.

In the eyes of the old law, which still applies in some states and religious circles ... one drop of "injun" blood makes me an "injun". We've sort of left the Native Americans alone now, half the kids on reservations are blond hair blue eyes anyway. One black parent and one white parent makes a black child.

My daughter has a friend who's father is puerto rican and his mother is white. He says he's sorta rican. ( I love that kid! lol )

I say we keep inter-breeding! LOL. Until we're all the color of Latte!

"One more thought, Lloyd. I think that successful blacks, whether in sports or whatever career"

Debra she proves that she has no understanding of the contributions that many successful Blacks make to all communities throughout America regardless of the racial composition.

The idea of wanting to stop inter-racial relationships is as goofy as the leader of Iran saying there were no Gays in Iran. He was laughed at and so should anyone else who hold those beliefs.

I know that we are not the only people dissected and put under a microscope, but being Black makes me notice it more than others.

Black In America 2

Lesbians In America 1

Homosexuals in America 1

White in America 1

You see how ridiculous this all sounds?

Gee whiz!
Debra (Gather SiteWarrior Extraordinaire) Jul 18, 2009, 6:13pm EDT
yeah, babe! I do see! with eyes wide open.

Lloyd - Please quit putting words in my mouth and YOUR interpretation of my words.
A one and a two...
PEOPLE ARE FREE TO DO WHAT THEY WANT. I AM FREE TO HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION. Why do you want to deny me my freedom?

Debra she proves that she has no understanding of the contributions that many successful Blacks make to all communities throughout America regardless of the racial composition.
And this conclusion is because I made a "short" comment?

This nit-picking is ridiculous and so beneath you Lloyd. For some reason everyone jumped on the bandwagon, as did you.

WHERE DID I SAY I WANTED TO STOP INTER-RACIAL RELATIONSHIPS.

There's a heck of a lot of ASSumptions being booted around here and I will thank you NOT to put words in my mouth, to not berate me because of my personal beliefs, and not to knock me because I see ALL media doing this and you believe it is ONLY Fox.

I suggest you re-read ALL my posts.
Debra (Gather SiteWarrior Extraordinaire) Jul 18, 2009, 6:35pm EDT
Stop acting like a sniveling cry baby, Linda! Now go read your own posts. ALL of them, and I do mean ALL.

You put yourself out there, if you can't handle disagreement, and your own words thrown back in your face, get out and shut up.

Poor baby feels picked on, hey?

"I don't believe in inter-racial marriages; Ultimately, it is none of my business."

Your words Linda. Your words.
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 6:58pm EDT
And YOUR point Lloyd?
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 6:58pm EDT
Debra has a burr in his saddle, of which I can do nothing about.
Debra (Gather SiteWarrior Extraordinaire) Jul 18, 2009, 6:59pm EDT
showing your ignorance again, Linda?
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 7:03pm EDT
Linda you wrote.

"This nit-picking is ridiculous and so beneath you Lloyd. For some reason everyone jumped on the bandwagon, as did you."

How is this jumping on the bandwagon? You have yet to explain why you are opposed to interracial marriage. One can only ASSUME why you would make such a statement.

If my assumptions are wrong, then please correct me. Why are you opposed to interracial marriage?
Linda A. Jul 18, 2009, 7:07pm EDT
Not sure to which assumptions you are referencing. I am not obligated to justify or explain my belief - it is what it is and I am just an entitled to it as you are yours.
Lloyd C. - Proud Democrat. c. Jul 18, 2009, 7:27pm EDT
"I am not obligated to justify or explain my belief"

That is why we are only left up to assumptions. Sorry if you disagree with them, but you leave us no other choice. How come you are so outspoken about everything but your beliefs?

I would think anyone with strong beliefs would want to share them.
Johnice R. Jul 19, 2009, 8:29am EDT
Here is, within this post, the source of irritability in race relations in America namely, the dismissiveness of whites and others of all races who chant a list of mantras "nit picking, get over it, you are too sensitive, stop, do this or that, reverse affirmative action, we are all Americans, I am color blind, if you do not like it leave, etc" Stop patronizing and respect that people think for themselves and express themselves based upon what is bothering them. Lord knows we all know what bothers whites--change.

People thrive and become more self-motivated to improve themselves when the greater society is not in constant, unending, everlasting, judgment of every thing about them. Just stop and inform others to stop and manage your own family issues. We have the capacity for survival and it will blossom when all of the nit-picky, dismissive interferences stop. Blacks, in general, do not want to be like whites we just want the same opportunities and rights--that includes the right to express ourselves on issues which have meaning to us.

Amen.
