I just posted to my blog about how I'll never get to meet my other niece due to the ignorance and prejudice of her mother, even though she just showed up outside of my brother's apartment building in Hartford, CT.
That's right, I actually have two nieces. One of them I know and love and get to spend time with; that's my sister's daughter.
The other I don't know from Adam; have never met her, have never seen her in person, and never will, due to the ignorance and prejudice of her CHRISTIAN mother. The same CHRISTIAN mother who, when she met my sister (and my sister's daughter) declared "Well I would never have a child out of wedlock because I'm a Christian."
I'm not even goign to bother posting to most Gather Groups anymore, save a few.
I'm just really pissed off that the mother of this child is able to manipulate my family up here so much by threatening to not allow visitation and other things like that.

I really don't need to hear about how I should copy and post my blog post on Gather; I don't think it's prudent to do so and nobody is going to get me to change my mind on that. There are some things that I post here, and others that I post on my personal blog. But whenever I do one or the other, I usually put up a notice on the other letting folks know about the content there.

Hang in there, OK?
I just don't get people that have to include the "I am Christian" in every argument or even sentence that comes out of their mouth. 9 times out of 10, it is used to cover their own prejudices and idiocy.
Everyone else: thanks for your support. I really feel sorry for this child being raised by an obviously unstable individual such as her mother is. Anyone who would tell a dual-diagnosis psychotic+paranoid schizophrenic+bi-polar individual to stop taking his medications b/c the only thing he needs to get through life is G_d is, quite frankly, off their freaking rocker. This is a person who will spend a week or two in my brother's apartment, eating up all of his food, getting him to buy things for her, etc. etc. etc. and won't even OFFER to do the dishes or help out with buying food or anything like that.
As for Homosexuals being child molesters. I have known about 100 homosexual people in my life and 5 child molesters. The child molesters were all heterosexuals. When I hear "Christians talking about homosexuals = Child Molesters, I always wonder if they've ever heard of Ted Haggard or all the priests. Don't they read the papers???
"THEY" (whoever "they" are) all want us to be just like them. Which is bigoted, hateful, spiteful, prejudiced and unloving.
There is one thing WE can do. The one thing that we can control, which is how we let their opinions affect us. THEY can't stop us from being loving and caring. THEY can't make us "just like them." And....ain't THAT grand? Love ya sweetie.
