CLM 180º Cold Indeed

Thoughtfully thinking, many Americans are experiencing frigid cold weather spikes where they live.  The climate temperature in regions dipping into the single digits and even many have shown a minus sign in front of their temperature degrees.  Cold, cold, cold indeed!

This frigid weather is showing many of us an ugly side to its nature, without remorse.  Hopefully most of us have adequate means to keep ourselves and homes warm.  This is a challenge even for the prepared and it would be wise to consider checking in with loved ones and friends during these times of extreme cold temperatures, just to make sure that they are coping and have the supplies they may need.

How much more so does this bitter cold affect the unprepared and the unsupported during these harsh times?  Many in our society do not have the means to cope against this arctic cold wave all by themselves. Most of the community homeless shelters were full to the max before these extreme cold temperatures hit and now have reached overflowing proportions, with their supplies dwindling quickly because of the extreme cold.  Demands on these shelters reaches the crucial point as volunteers step up to try to meet the challenge.  Many who may live on the outer fringes of society are faced with this dismal cold snap without family and friends to support.  We have a disenfranchised segment of people who will truthfully suffer during these weeks and usually suffer alone.  It is a grim and cold reality altogether.

This also reminds me of the extremes within our society that affect the conditions of the heart and spirit.  If we, having a taste of this bitter cold experience on a physical level knowing how difficult these circumstances present to us, how much more important is the bitter cold that inflicts the heart and spirit of a people who have lost their way within our society.  Lost their way by self emposements or by circumstances beyond control.  Either way it has left each victim with a maligned heart full of bitter coldness toward mankind.  Leaving us to witness cold pathological  cut throats, embittered loveless spirits which will forgo any humane and moral character.  This too is cold, cold, cold indeed.

We too often hear about such extreme cold hearted experiences and occurrences in the latest headlines, like the weather news.  Men, women, and children abound in a plethora of unnatural acts in homicides, suicides, terroristic attacks, lethal assaults, amoral judgements, and illegal ethics.  It is a helter skelter mayhem of attacks through our five senses as we see a world full of violence and war either at home within the states or abroad in other continents.  But it still leaves us cold, cold, cold indeed.
