Mama told me not to walk down this road.
“It gives me the heebie jeebies,” she said.
I don’t much care though…
Cause lots of things give Mama the “heebie-jeebies”.
Nothing scares me…even on Halloween.
Its all a bunch of silly notions…
ghosts and witches and ghouls;
I just walk along, trick or treat bag in hand,
ignoring Mama’s rules.
What’s the worst that could happen
on a dark Halloween night?
Is there really something out there
that could give me such an awful fright?
The treetops sway in the breeze,
an eerie howl fills the air;
I feel something close behind me,
just barely touching my hair.
Hands reach up
from under the ground
and I scream in total fright;
Suddenly I wish I had listened to Mama
on this Halloween night.
All at once the ghouls and goblins
run back from where they came.
I wonder what has frightened them
til I hear that dreaded name.
"Dracula! Look! Run for your lives!"
I can see they are pointing at me.
I swish my cape over my shoulder
and smile with bloodied teeth.
There is something to be said
for ignoring Mama’s rules;
I’ll be first in line to get the candy..
way ahead of the witches and ghouls.
Still, I can feel it strongly...
something evil in the air;
It seems to be whispering my name
and the fear is beyond compare.
I wish I had listened to Mama
with all of her rules and such.
Right now I have the "heebie-jeebies"
and I’m frightened very much.
I walk the long dark pathway
that takes me to my home,
promising myself that I will never again
trick or treat alone.
