Irony
“They do not come, as sweet as they used to, these days.”
Looking at the helpless fleshes of oranges
produced in green Darjeeling hills, the old man says.
A wind, which have once touched the peaks of north terrain,
sends a shiver down the trite spine. His relative
comes out on porch, glow bugs swarming; it is nighttime.
The crisscrossing bugs weave the scene akin to those
seen through childhood kaleidoscopes. It shakes his nerves
to return to technologies. The irony is,
inside, rests an old man; life supported by machines.

Wake up, morning
Waking up, from the cold water,
walking over it; a spider,
is moving with lame laziness
towards its unaware breakfast.
Heat generated first clouds,
the newborns, yelping, careening
intoxicated by youth,
are scattered here and there.
The boy discovers a treasure,
his father’s cassette collection.
Old tape-recorder whines and squeaks.
Armstrong sings, “it’s a beautiful world…”

Ahh...love this, Poddar!
My compliments on both Sir Poddar, though Irony strikes a personal chord.
I know it would.
I agree, David!
You know what I love about your poems, Kush? Your soul sings through the pain and sledge of your daily life, sifting the dirt to find the tear that sings in a young girl's heart, even though she be an old, old lady and........
well, the rest you know, because you write of these twists, every day.

it's indeed a beautiful world if you look closely at it and look in the right directions. lovely, loved it.
Wonderful writing Poddar, both pieces are very well done,
I like the juxtaposition of the two poems. The first one makes me think we're on the same page today and was poignant because of my dad's situation. The second one is a nice contrast and lightens the mood for the reader. Thank you.
Irony indeed! As I enjoy the natural world around me, I can look up and identify a creature or plant most quickly via the www.
love this nice

These are divine together. Irony gave me goosebumps!
Nicely done.
Yes it's a beautiful world Poddar and your beautiful poems are included in it.
THESE ARE BEAUTIFUL
A new life beginning
Poddar, you really write well!
Magnificent, both of them.
And Louis Armstrong... beautiful.
So beautiful. Well done
And, this is a beautiful poem!
Thanks for posting to my group, Anythingwriting
"Irony" is a truly accomplished work, but this is no slight against the quality of "Wake Up, Morning". The latter is a deft character sketch in verse that gives us specific details and asks the reader to draw their own conclusions. "Irony", however, tackles a much wider scope and does not flinch in its expression of life's cruel twists. You are a fine writer and it is always with admiration and interest that I read your work. Thanks for posting to The Poet's Circle.
Fantastic viewpoints. You serve us slices of life, frozen moments that sparkle with your words.
morning has broken and I see and hear what you do!
Wonderful words yet again, I am always amazed at the words and the feelings you are able to put to paper and make it sound so very beautiful. Thanks for sharing and for the comments.
beautiful!
