I walk the dusty way
amid shadows that linger.
Try as I may,
the light escapes me.
I see it shining
in the distance,
but the more I grasp for it,
the more it eludes me.
The more I run toward it,
the harder I fall.
Somewhere inside
I hear laughter,
rising from ashes,
begging me to suffer.
I run in place
for my feet refuse to carry me.
The dust rises around me,
and I am consumed…
praying for God’s
saving rain
to cleanse me
once again.

This poem resonates how I feel about my depression. I always feel as if the nondepressive state is whithin my reach but I never quite make it there.

Many times it's difficult to detect when you're being given a hug from on high. The fact that you pray for it and wish for it many times is enough. You feel a certain release of tension and smile for what appears to be no good reason. The Lord works in mysterious ways; most often providing relief in a totally unexpected manner.
