ODE TO DEAR IKE
The wind came whirling at the door
Took first the roof, then yelled for more
Crickets became silent
While the winds were hell bent
Heaven sent?
Rains did pour!
Lightning flashed while thunder grumbled;
Waters raged while houses tumbled.
Lights went out with a flash;
Sound was gone with a crash!
Silent smash,
life crumbled.
It seems the next step, to rebuild
What nature destroyed and heav'n stilled.
Life fights back, comes anew;
Skies once again are blue -
Never through
'Til life's filled.

Sheila, thanks. It was much more powerful than I expected! I thought the story telling form would fit nicely.
Thanks so much for reading this and commenting!
