Winter Trees

Walking through Ballard Park today, I noticed groupings of tree trunks. So, being who I am, I made a photo shoot of them. Back home and doing the processing, I found they worked best in black and white.

I'm odd about black and whites but these work for me and I think I know why. I didn't feel like I was there, but I wanted to be.

Black and white images of trees are very captivating. I have spent many, many hours photographing in Aspen groves.

The black and white seems to give a clarity that color doesn't. These are awesome shots.

I can see how the black and white allows the trunks to stand out whereas they might have been lost in a confusion of color. I think I will remember this when I have a similar shot to bring to life :)

I agree with Quinn...lovely. I like black and white because there's no color to distract from what is going on. Just photograph a redhead in color, then black and white. You miss a great deal with the color photo.

Love tree shots, and these are great. My fav of the three is the "family of trees" in the last shot. Reminds me of a family, patiently standing in line at the local ice cream shoppe...

The black and white works well for me, for these, for the same reasons mentioned above.
I'm glad, again, you were out walkin. And glad you shared when you got home.

I cannot add any more to what has already been said except that I really enjoyed your photos and that best way to photograph your shots is by using black & white film. Of course that part has already been said.
