Are Your Kids Back To School Yet?

I've been reading a lot of back-to-school posts recently.  My children are still celebrating summer vacation so it seems rather odd to hear about school days again.

My kids will return to school next Wednesday.  While the school hasn't sent a physical copy of their schedules to our house yet, I noticed they were posted online yesterday.  Both of my children got the teacher they wanted so they are already excited about going back to school.

My son plays the trumpet and has a new one to sport for band this year, thanks to grandma and grandpa.  My daughter can't wait to have her first year playing flute.  She got band privileges a year early because of her outstanding grades and behavior so we are proud.  I played the flute, too :)  We still have my old flute and she keeps playing it.

We are using last year's backpacks because they are still in good shape.  It was well worth investing in Jansport because they are always "cool" and never wear out.

I got their sneaker, too and my daughter just had to have Ecko Red ones *sigh*.  My frugal son found a fantastic pair of Reeboks on the clearance shelf.  Gotta love him!  We also got new socks and outfits for the first day :)  I still have to go for some practical, long-sleeved fall shirts and pants.

I can't wait to get the supply list from the teachers as I don't like last minute scuffling.  The kids got their haircuts and look tidy now after all the summer wear and tear.

It sounds like your kids are getting ready:) How cool that your son is so frugal, and it's great that they can use their backpacks again. They sure are lucky that they got the teachers they were hoping to get.

My dad got my son a LL Bean backpack last year, and it is in great condition for this year. We already have next year covered though. He will be in second grade then, and I got a black Northface backpack from Club Live that I have promised he can have.

My sophmore in HS started today. He has friday off already! But that helps us to head up to Maine for Labor day, though... the boys (he and my husband have BC football tix) and we didn't know that the games start on Saturday. What to do?

That's such an awkward day to start with Labor Day right around the corner, it's good he has Friday off.

They went back last week. It could not have come a moment too soon. Love the kids to death but with my wife having a broken foot our activities got limited so they got a little wild around the house, especially when I was working nights.

I'm sure it's a bit of much-needed relief :)
My daughter starts her 1st day of High School next Tuesday. Today she is there for 9th grade orientation. Us parents go at 6pm to get educated ourselves.
We still need school clothes (sigh), now that I am not working it is hard. She needs jeans & new shoes & a haircut.

I am looking forward to all the kids in our 4-plex to be back in school so it will be quiet around here!

My sons are just in preschool but they went to meet their teacher yesterday and thier first official day back is tomorrow! Yeah! Everyone is thrilled! I have missed my solitude! The school district where we live started last Wed. AND friends in Louisiana started mid August.

I always miss them but it gives me a much-needed opportunity to catch up on work, cleaning and adult life in general. I can't imagine school starting in August, yuck!!

we homeschool and school year round mostly, but did take off for summer.
we are back PT go FT after Labor Day.

I wanted to homeschool but didn't wind up doing it...I am pleased to see how well homeschooled children do on standardized testing.

No school age kids for me anymore. I didn't know anywhere waited until after Labor Day. It is sort of nice to see kids that actually get the entire summer off.

This is the second full week of school around here. I am a grandma, and bought school supplies for the one youngster here. I also have a client who is a senior in highschool. She is excited about taking more difficult classes this year, and having a workstudy job. Great backpacks paid off when my kids were in school. I think they both still have theirs. Grandson could not be talked into practical, and client cannot afford it.

Resumption day is after Labor day too.
my daughter started today and my son starts tomorrow. they usually start earlier than the rest of the schools but they also get out of school almost 2 weeks earlier in june.
