I spend far too much time dwelling on the darker things in my life that I often forget the small moments that add happiness to life. I overlook opportunities to add joy to my life. Today I seized the moment and jumped at the chance to add a little joy to both my life and my youngest grandsons. He and his mom had stopped by on their way back to their newest living arrangement when I asked her to run a quick errand for me. It was just up the street and would take no more than ten minutes. As she pulled away Gabe grew distressed. He then ran into the backyard to the sandbox. Despite this being a great distraction for him I felt it would hardly be worth the effort of taking the lid off and taking his shoes off. Then I looked at his face and ripped the lid off the box. I even suggested leaving the sneakers on but he loves the feel of the sand on his feet. Off the shoes went. He enjoyed his ten minutes of play and I got to play with the video feature of my new phone.
Can't say I am too impressed with the video feature of my phone. I will have to try playing with it some more and see if I get better results.

I bet he had a blast. My kids always loved the sandbox.
Cute video! It looks like he had alot of fun.
Cute. The cover is a good idea--keeps cats from using the sandbox.
that's a great reminder for all of us to take time and cherish the small moments in our lives.
What a cutie and he's so happy that he's singing in the beginning! I love this post and kids! You know that I teach first grade?! My favorite sound in the world is kid's laughter. It's great that simple pleasures in your life are treasured. I enjoy the moments I spend walking and playing with my dogs, too (since I don't have human kids yet). Love and hugs to you, Linda.
Such a cutie
How sweet!
I'm glad you got some time to enjoy your grandson and his joy in the sandbox. Grand children can be the cure for many things.
Vavo you made his day!!!!! this is priceless and worth every second of aggrivation!!!! you gotta get them on video calling you Vavo!! l love it..
With Gabe I was more concerned that he was going to drop a few f bombs. Yesterday he told me I was a stupid b****rd. Isn't he so sweet!
Tom nice connection! LOL... Hey Linda he may a point there.. Its a stage they go through right?? I am not sure if mine ever grew out of it, Joey swore and said bad words but I dont remember him calling me bad words..
Good point Tom. He actually plays with dolls too but those are not allowed in the sandbox.
Kim, afraid this is more than a stage. His mother is fluent is sweareeze. Her everyday language would make even a trucker blush. All I can do it try to correct him and hope he learns from our example instead of following in his mother's path.
What a cute video! Yep, it is really great....to enjoy the simple pleasures in life.......like the saying goes, "Take time to stop and smell the flowers!"
little things can make a day bright! he is so cute!

Lovely!
Cute! He seems to really enjoy the sandbox! I'm glad you took the time to enjoy the moment!
Cute video. He may not remember that specific moment, but he'll remember how you made him feel as he grows up. It was worth it! All those little moments add up to something really special for a kid.
Very cute! I spend too much time dwelling on the negative things in my life also and tend to miss the good things -- especially lately when so much of my life is very stressful and negative. I really enjoyed the video -- gave me a much needed smile :-) PIF
He loves to play in the sandbox - this could be a way for him to pull away from what he is learning from his mom she should learn Mommies don't talk nasty with the little one around-at this stage he has no control over what he says-just repeating what he is learning. Have fun, little one playing in your sandbox and feeling the warm sand on your little feet. Sing a little song as you play along and make those around you smile and love you.
Wow I can't believe you actually logged on and checked out something I wrote. Good thing I always have nice things to say about my mother in law. You should become more active on here I am sure you have many wonderful stories you could share.
I'm way too shy --
he looks like he had a blast.. Pn
he looks like he is having fun!

You made his day :) It's grabbing those small moments of pleasure that keep us going through the big, tough moments. Way to go! PIF
Isn't it wonderful how much they enjoy the small things in life?
sand and barefeet......it's the simple things.........
thanks Linda.........
Wonderful posting and great video.
It is those small moments in time that create lasting memories. Fantastic reminder to live in the moment! As a side note, I recently got a new phone and have yet to see how the video function works on it. Happy Wednesday to you.
Perfect!
Cute kid. I am glad you took the time to let him play in the sand box
This is a great video. It looks like he had a great time.
Aren't you glad you did open the sandbox? Even if it was for a short time, he had so much fun!
It's always good to just let your kids have some fun! Or this case, your grandkid.
looks like it was fun for him regardless of how long he got to play :) - pif

Nothing like sand between your toes to sort things out. I think we should join your grandson!
It's so true...we need to cherish those few minutes whenever we can get them!
Stopping by to help from another PIF group
Next time take the ten minutes to sit in the sandbox with him. He'll enjoy it, and you will feel like a child again-freespirited. PIF
