If you are looking for a very good photo editing program but can't afford the high cost of PhotoShop, try one of these:
I was on my way to learning how to use PhotoShop when I purchased a new computer. The version of PhotoShop I have will not work with the VISTA OS. So I had to find comparable programs that were free.
Gimp2
This program probably most resembles PhotoShop. It has been around for a long time and from what I understand has always been freeware. If you know how to use PhotoShop then this program will be perfect for you.
Paint.net
This program is very similar to GIMP yet has a few different filters that are fun to work with.
Photo Filtre
I personally love this one. It has a few features that the other two programs don't have. I believe that the program is originally French, the help button takes you to their website that is in French but has English translations. The help pages for this pogrom are awesome in that they actually walk you through particular things step by step.

Each of these programs can be found on the Internet and are all freeware. As you can see I have several different editing programs. I can afford the space on my hard drive, most are not that big. My pictures actually take up most of it. I like having the flexibility of many different programs to do many different things.
I hope to elaborate on some of photographic and editing technics in my next series of posts. Though I'm not a professional photographer, I am an avid armature. I love taking pictures, and even have a hard time deleting bad ones. Who know what may come of even those pictures.
Enjoy!
