THEY SHUT DOWN A WHOLE SCHOOL DISTRICT!!

I heard on our local news that the Schertz-Cibolo Independant School District is shut down for the whole week due to the swine flu epidemic! This comes after 2 cases were diagnosed in the district.



What scares me more is that I received a phone call from our school district saying they are monitoring the situation and that any student or faculty with flu like symptoms should stay home. The good thing is that no child has contracted the disease in our district.



I'm hoping and praying it stays that way!

I probably won't have to worry about catching the swine flu. I'd have to be able to get out of my house to have contact with others to be able to contract this. On top of that, when I am able to get out, I don't really cross paths with many people as it is.

Hey Janie! I am surprised at the response on this one. But I also heard that the cases they have been finding in the US and Canada are of a lesser degree than the ones in Mexico. Of the 6 in Canada all have already gotten over it. Let's hope it's on it's way to being worn out, and soon.

Scary, but that isn't good because some parents are dishonest and send children to school to get them out of their hair (just like some kids with lice are sent to school). It is sad and scary, as well.

Wow. From all I've heard, it's nothing more serious than any other flu. I mean, yes, those with poor immune systems or the elderly should be cautious, but I think the cases from the U.S. have not been deadly....

It is very scary indeed. The mask company 3-M I think is the name. Are working over time to fill orders. This is for hospitals as well as personal buyers. I saw on TV they were handing out masks on the streets. They do say that there is medication that will help, in the U.S. It's almost like a Stephen King novel~

Praying it doesn't spread any closer to ya'll Janie. I just heard on the news that all of Fort Worth Independent School District is closed down for a week or until further notice and on top of that they are only hours drive away.

My family went to the Renaissance Fair this past weekend and there were thousands out there. Today my Mom and Dad both woke up with sore throats and coughs!! Don't know what is going on there and we are hoping that it is just allergy related but just in case the boxes of Theraflu are waiting on standby for them on their bed tables.

Oh, that is scary! be safe....like just what we need, with the financial crisis is for people to be off work and stuff! agggg......you must be extra worried being so near the border, they should block the border for now! also I lived in tucson az for a while, near the border, and people used to get day visas to go to nogalas to buy cheap booze, jewelery, etc ....they should block that also! Realizing how close to the border you are reminded me I better call my friend in tucson, make sure he is ok!

we have 1 nonconfirmed victim here in Omaha.......
apparently he's visiting from San Diego......
and has been in contact with 6 other people here, probably not counting the people at the hospital.......

I see that the new name for it is the N1H1 virus though..........

it is a strain of swine, ovian and homo sapien dna combinations.......
pigs don't get this.........
as for my opinion though........
I think that it is being over dramatised........
people die from the more common flu strain too.........
