Could You Eliminate $46,000 in debt... in under 4 years?

I just watched a video on CNN of a woman who's family paid off over $46,000 in credit card debt in 3 years, 7 months.  I think that is amazing!!!

She credits a dramatic lifestyle change and the fact that she took on 2 extra part-time jobs in addition to her full time job.  He husband also had a full time job.

When they finally mailed in their last payment ($1,500) she cried... and then they hosted a party!

First off... I can't get my thought around $46,000 in credit card debt... secondly, I'm just blown away by their perserverence!  Good for them!!

That is a lot of credit card debt. We have medical debt but our cc debt is relatively low

We've got that much in student loans (more actually.) I don't think I'm that dedicated though.

Medical debt and student loans are one thing... by she admits to pretty wasteful spending to accummulate that much debt... a 'want it, but it" attitude. I was stunned when she said they sold off items they bought on credit for pennies on the dollar!

I'm impressed by them! It took a LOT of dedication and sacrifice to clear that up!

all of our debt was medical and just surviving, like groceries on credit, and now all we have are student loans but yeah if we had 4 incomes coming in, we could do it too

The only way I could do it would be to get another job, cuz I barely even make that much in 4 years with the one I have now. But am I that dedicated? Yep! That's why I don't have any debt right now except my mortgage and it feels good.

Yea for her. I know that if I started to concentrate on it, I could do a lot, and this story is inspirational enough to motivate me.

That was a fantastic job they did to get out of debt. I just can't see myself putting that much money on credit cards.

My ex ran up 6000 in a couple of months...kind of a going away gift for me...

Great to see some people are getting serious about debt. Of course we have to, someone has to bail out the government.

That's wonderful!! We paid off everything but the truck payment. We COULD pay it off - but until Nic opens a major credit card under his name, we think it would be more beneficial to at least have SOMETHING current on his credit report.
