Flowering tree photo essay

The other day at the Franklin Locks. I noticed a flowering tree. I have no idea what kind it is. But I found it beautiful. I have seen the tree before. I have always tried to get a good picture. But they never turned out. The day was really windy but I took some pictures anyways. They actually turned out. I couldn't believe. Here is the tree I am talking about :

How beautiful! I haven't seen any flowering trees here yet but the weather hasn't been able to make up its mind as to whether it's winter or spring so it may take a little longer. You'd think in southern California that the trees would be in full bloom by now.

If you find out what kind it is, let me know. A few years ago, I ordered a flowering tree from a catalog. It was called the Empriss tree, bloomed gorgeous purple flowers. But sadly it didn't survive mowing season. Some one mowed it down, said they didn't see it.. hmm~ grr~ made me so mad.

Awesome pics~ I love the way some trees bloom so beautifully. Could this one be a pink dogwood tree? I love taking pics of the trees in bloom too~
