My day has been fairly busy. I got up early and took the kids to the local "Reading Festival". I picked up my sister in law, her daughter, her neighbor lady who just moved in and her two kids. On top of having my two younger kids.
At the "Reading Festival", you get to meet authors. Plus kids get free stuff, do crafts, finger painting and things like that. They even have things for pre teens and teenagers. They also give out free books. I will have to take pictures later of the ones my daughter picked out. I did however buy each of my kids a book. As that is something I do every year. I think it helps encourage them to read.
I guess of everything that impressed me today was the youngest author of all. He was maybe 10 or 11 years old. He drew and colored all the pictures and wrote a book. He explained that it started out as a summer project. Once he started school he showed it to several teachers. Who all wanted copies. They thought it was so good that they went and copyrighted it for him. Than he got it published. How cool is that?
For lunch the kids choose a slice of pizza and a soft drink. It was a pretty big slice. I however decided to get a chicken gyro. Oh my was it yummy. It cost eight bucks. But it was huge. I couldn't eat it all. My daughter was even helping me to eat it and we couldn't finish it. I wish I could get one of those every day. Because I would eat half and save the rest for later. I told my teenage son (who went to the beach with his girlfriend) that I will have to find some gyro bread and make some for dinner one night. Would anyone happen to have a homemade recipe to make gyro bread? I would love if you shared it. So, I can try to make it.
I also made it to the library with the kids as well. I have a rant about that. Ugh!!
I will have to post pictures and some more posts later about our day. Right now I am plum tuckered out. I think I walked to much because my leg hurts.
I hope you all had a great day. I'll try to get on tomorrow if I can. If not you'll have to wait til Monday afternoon or later. As I have to take my daughter to her eye specialist. Hopefully I will hear good news there.

I get invited to 'sell-my-wares' at the West Hollywood book Fair each year and they are fun events, don't get much sold but it is good to promote the printed word!
You can go to recipes in a Google search and probably find gyro bread there.
We have a book festival at the museum every summer, but they charge you $5/person to get in and shop. It used to be an actual "festival" with music and such, but now it's just the book sale--so now you get to pay and take the chance you'll find something you like. One year they had a free special exhibit inside the museum, and it was awesome so it was worth it...and generally we more than make up for it in the books we find.
