Are you ever at a loss for words on Gather?

 What I really want to know is this: when you get a photo, video, or post in your e-mail, and you go to look at it, are you ever at a loss as to what to say? I'm not talking about anyone in particular. Sometimes I look at the picture, read the post, or watch the video and I have absolutely nothing to comment on. It's almost like there really isn't anyone could say about it.

 Are these the times where we should just put "just dropping by"? I usually just don't comment at all in these instances, although I hate to not comment on something someone from my group or friend list has taken the time to post.

 And once again, I am not talking about anyone in particular.

Yes I do that as well. I sometimes just say nice shot, thanks for sharing, something to that effect. I want people to know I did stop by and read it. I figure a generic comment as that is better then nothing.

I think it happens to all of us. As long as it is not offensive I will usually just say "thanks for sharing."

I'll do the same. Usually a "thanks for sharing". Sometimes I just move on to the next. Sometimes there really isn't anything to say!

Well, sometimes I'll leave a generic "thanks for sharing" comment, but usually I just read/look and move on.

im still new here but ive come across those photos or videos that i have nothing to say. i figure if i leave any comment, even being thanks for sharing it helps both parties out :)

Ambi, I think that is just normal. We can't really have words for everything posted here.
Actually no. If it ever comes to that, then I'll state that I have no comment to make and that I'm stopping by just to help them with their goals. Mostly on politic posts are the ones that I don't express and opinion about them.

Me too, sometimes, but if I open someone's post I want them to know that I appreciated the time it took to do the post, so I'll always say something. Sometimes it's just "Thanks for sharing."

I just don't say anything on a lot of the stuff I view. If I don't feel like I have something real to add, I just move on to the next piece. Some of my friends probably think I'm a bad friend since I don't comment on much of their stuff. The truth is I've been opening every single article that my friends write, and most of the videos and pictures they post as well.

Absolutely. I don't want to always put the same comment, but the words I use are words that I would say in my everyday conversations..

If I'm just viewing for me, I don't comment when I have nothing to say. When I'm making comments for a group, sometimes you have to comment. When someone has photos of the same subject 3 or 4 times, I run out of things to say. If it's an older post, sometimes a comment wouldn't make any sense.
So despite the fact that I do a lot of long comments, I do the pithy ones, too.

If it is a post and someone took the time to write it than I usually leave a short comment. If it is a one word sentence and not really what gather would consider a valid post, I just leave. They got the view anyway. If it is a photo or video that theere really is nothing to say about it, I just move on. I don't write mean things to people and criticize what they put on gather. If I don't like it for some reason, I look for something I do like, and go and enjoy that.

That has happened to me many times. Sometimes I wrack my brain for something nice to say other times I just give them the view and no comment.

I think a few of us do. Usually just leaving a simple "thanks for sharing" will do. Depending on the person, some don't like simple comments like that, so not leaving a comment sometimes is a smart idea!

Mostly, I read poetry here ... and sometimes there are poems that I have not liked, that I disagree with the premise, or that I simply think are not well written. But like you, if someone has taken the time and effort to post, I try to at least say something.

Sometimes, though, I really like what I have read, but do not have time to comment in depth, and I still at least try to say something.

In my mind, I guess, a little is better than nothing! : )

For someone that seems to have quite the motor mouth it happens to me all to often, lol!! =~D That smile is an easy one and sometimes I'll just leave that to let them know I was there depending on the person, they get credit just for the fact you viewed though so isn't always necesary to say anything.
