I have been a member of the group "Cancer Is" for a long time now, and I always thought I knew what cancer was. I mean, it had touched my life many times in the past - family members and my best friend had died from it, others had been "cured" or gone into remission, and even a couple of our pets had it. Just when I thought that I knew what it was, though, it slapped me in the face and taught me that I know NOTHING. This is the poem that sprang from my recent revelation.
Cancer is . . .
Relentless - even if a person is a "survivor" it will attack another spot in the body just to prove it can;
Universal - it does not matter what color, gender, religious preference or even species you are, because as long as you are living it will attack you;
Blind - no matter how much pain and suffering the person or loved ones show it just continues to ravage the body;
Deaf - the pleading and sorrowful sobs of those it affects just fall on deaf ears;
Stealthy - it silently weaves it's deadly web throughout the body unnoticed until it is too late;
A Warning - to live each day to the fullest, because you never know what tomorrow might bring;
A Reminder - to let friends and loved ones how much they mean to you as often as you can, because you might not get another chance.

You wrote a beautiful summary of what cancer is. And yes, it's unpredictable, so no matter how much we think we know we can never really know.
Just keep remembering that you've got people that care about you and that are going through the same thing and they're all here for you when you need us!
Thank you for posting to Breast Cancer Awareness.
