A Couple of Ideas to make Gather more User-Friendly and Friend-Friendly

I have noticed some inconveniences here on Gather that I may have a solution to.

!)  It would be nice to have folders for articles.  That way we could group our poems in one, short stories in one, etc.  We can categorize the folders however we wish.

2)  So our friends and group owners don't have hissy fits when we accidentally press the wrong group name, perhaps we could have folders to separate groups.  For example , we could make folders for "anything" groups, for "recipe" groups, etc.  That way, maybe we will quit getting rude, and immature comments and emails from some of the group owners, who I am sure make mistakes, as well, but fail to understand when someone else does.

Yes those are great ideas. I've thought about folders for my articles but not for the groups. I like that idea.

I love the group suggestion. I got a nasty-gram yesterday(as did a fair number of other people who posted, still not sure if it was from the same person) because my hand happened to slip and I posted to a group that I did not intend to.

If there were folders for groups, that person would have been saved from the humiliation when I discovered that the same person who had admonished me posted not 1, but 27 articles to a group it did not belong...

I agree Tamara, for the two years I have been on Gather I must have seen this great suggestion several times. I hope one of these times when we have an upgrade that we will be given the ability to sort our groups, it sure would make contributing a lot easier.

That is really a great idea. I got a nasty gram too. It's a honest mistake but this person was rather rude about it. It got worse when I explained they didn't need to be rude.

People have been asking for ways to better organize groups for years now; both to publish to, and to surf through. Good ideas.
You might want to join/publish to "Building a Better Gather" that is a group run/owned by Gather. That way they will see it, and if we all bug them enough with posts like this maybe something would happen.

Great ideas is right. I do believe there is a way to associate like groups existing now on Gather but can not tell you how to do it as I am computer illiterate. ;)

Minipin, I am talking about when we submit things. But, organizing groups in the Group Section should also be an option.

I agree. I thought that about the groups as well, I was thinking it would be good to categorize groups like you do your friends. This sounds like it would be better.

That would be a great way to keep things in order. I would love to be able to group my groups and be able to chose "select all" when I want to publish to all of the ones in a certain category. I sure hope they can make this idea come to fruition.

The folder idea is an excellent one for emails and grouping group content as well. I'm exploring options on how to include content submitted to a group without publishing it to the main page. I'm being told there may be a way to do that, and if so I see that as hope for these other issues as well.
