My Dog Was Killed

Hi guys. Sorry I haven't been on the past two days really ... My dog was killed yesterday evening. Purposely. Two teenagers that live in my neighborhood purposely killed her. They basically threw her out into the highway. Nothing I can do really about it ... I let her out to pee and then it happened. Sigh. Me and Jennifer are both devestated. Just another bad thing going on in my life. How much worse could it get? :(

I am not a dog fan, but any abuse to any animal is wrong. Yes you should be able to contact the SPECA (sp) as this is a criminal act.

i'm so sorry to hear that...I understand...I had a neighbor kid kill my dog before too....no reason just did it...I know there isn't anything I can say that will help. I say you should call the police, animal control, ASPCA, the media, whoever will listen.

That makes me mad. Throwing a helpless dog out onto the freeway. Those teenagers should be punished in some way. Call the animal protection place that was mentioned, and also the police. Don't let these kids do this crap to you. Set an example for your child, so she doesn't let people step all over her either.

OMG!!!! i just had to watch my sister have to put her dog down and she was devestated because he was so sick and then someone can be this cruel to someone elses beloved pet who we all know are just like our kids it is just sick and i am very sorry for your loss

Katie they committed a crime. File charges against them. They are evil little brats with nothing better to do than to kill an innocent animal. They need to have their butts in jail. I really think you should call the police tonight and tell them what happened. Let them be the judge. I'm sure their response will surprise you. How pathetic. What little creeps. I am furious.

I'm so sorry to hear this, and there is something you can do, it won't bring your baby back but you can call the police and file a report and have them arrested. This is not something that is ok and they should have to deal with the punishment.

I know it's a very hard time for you, but something must be done.

I will put you and yours in my prayers in hopes your pain will heal fast. But please call the police or the aspca or animal control, they will deal with this and should.

That isso aweful, call the cops, kids in my area "critter bash" its very disturbing but i had a dog that a teenager drove into my yard to hit in the midle of the night because he "thought it was a racoon or somthing, we were out critter bashing", i got $1000(that was the price of the dog) it was not the dog i know, but they deserve some sort of punishment

ok, first off, i am so sorry to hear about this...secondly. if something like this happend to me, i would call the police, not to report them, but to turn myself in for the beatings that are about to occer. and probably would call 911 too, because they may not be breathing when im done with them.
and yes, i am dead serious about this. people like that dont deserve to be free/breathing/existing

I am also sorry for your loss. I know how important an animal can be. And I know how upset I would be to know that something like that had happened to one of my animals (I have had both cats and dogs). I agree with Whitney that you should see if you can do anything to pursue this. I hope you have a better night and that things improve.

I'm very sorry this happened. I am still heartbroken over the unexpected death of our family dog. Such an act of cruelty is a sign of serious behavioral issues in those who who did this. The police should definitely be notified so this is on record.

I would take action immediately. Sometimes it helps to get angry and those worthless teenagers will probably end up to be child molesters someday. Please call every organization you can think of to report this horrible tragedy. Please write to the SPCA, email all the humane societies in your area. If you let this go, then other animals will suffer needlessly. Salud

No! No! No! this is awful! I am so very sorry that you have lost your precious pet, but I'm also outraged that it was because of an act of senseless cruelty. Animal abuse is serious and should be taken very seriously.

Parents or any others who see this happening should take legal action to prosecute any criminal acts, but the abusers also need professional mental health intervention. Animal abuse is usually the first sign of a criminal personality and the first step for serial killers. REALLY. This has been scientifically documented. This cruel behavior needs public attention, treatment and real consequences for abusive behavior.

And again, my heart goes out to you, Katie. Those of us who treat our pets as members of the family know the pain you are going through.

Those are two serial killers in the making... Most homicidal maniacs start out by abusing animals and then move on to people...

We had a pretty famous local case here in the SF Bay Area where this guy had road rage and grabbed this woman's "bichon friese" out of her car window and did the same thing... They CRUCIFIED this guy in court and in the public forum... I think he had to move away from the area just to get a job and a place to stay...

Just another example of todays youth, the don't care about anything, they are bored and think they can do whatever they want. You have my sympathy for your loss, it's not just an animal it's part of your life.
Katie is probably too distraught to answer. I feel very sorry that this happened, but I don't know what the laws are where she lives. Maybe she can't call the police because if the dog was not on her property, but out on the street, then it may be thought by the police that allowing the dog to roam would also prove negligence on the part of the owners. That's why I asked the questions I did.

Call the Police, it doesn't matter if you let the dog out or not. Animal abuse is against the law. Behavior like this needs to be dealt with before it gets worse. I am sorry this happened to you, this is so cruel. Take care.
It certainly does matter, John. It doesn't make what those boys did any less abhorent, but it does also implicate the owners if they were negligent in the proper care of the animal. If your child is kidnapped, but you leave him in a car while you go shopping, you're going to bear responsibility too.

Most serial killers start out with cruelty to animals. If you report them and just the ASPCA takes action against them, they will be watched to see that their behavior doesn't progress on to people. They really need to be reported. And um, I'd probably shoot their tires out too.

Something very similar happened to me when I was a kid. These two kids on our street unhooked our dog's leash and then chased her onto a busy street where she was hit by a car and killed. I saw the whole thing. It was really awful.

It's very sad to lose an animal, much less in that devastating way. I'm very sorry for your loss. You really should report it to the police even if they can't do anything about it, at least the police department will be aware of these hoodlums.
