OK, I have to admit that it's been over a month since the "big change" now and I really don't know how this is being handled anymore.
So does anyone really know, with certainty, just how we earn points now?
I've heard some people say it's all about the page views, and others say commenting still gets you points, and then there's invites, and receiving comments, and receiving group invites, and creating groups, and posting content, and ....
So does anyone out there really know? And are different amounts of points awarded for different activities? For instance, with the old Gather, it used to be that getting people to sign up for Gather using your invite link/referral code earned you the most points, with posting videos coming in second, posting images third, articles fourth, and comments received on your content fifth, and comments issued on others' content sixth. I think that was the order.
So does anyone really know for sure anymore? Gather folk, we'd like to hear from you!
Thanks. :)

If people knew how the point algorithm worked that's all that would happen. It would drive ALL behavior in one direction.

Dee: I think adding content and getting other people to comment on it brings about the most points right now. At least, that's what I've been doing and I've been getting close to 100 points/day on average (OK, so there are days that I don't post more than a few things then I spend a day or two posting lots of content to make up for that..)
I think you get points for
1.) viewing content
2.) rating it
3.) commenting on it (including yours)
4.) joining groups
5.) making them
6.) publishing content
7.) getting views, comments, and ratings
Oh and
8.) Making friends
It has been my experience that viewing the content of others increases your point totals more than views on your own content.
For example, if you view 100 articles, images or videos of other members, you would accrue more points than 100 members viewing your article, image or video. In addition, viewing some content types earns more points than others.
However, this is always subject to change and Gather does supposedly change the point algorithm from time to time.
If you ever figure it out, let us all know.
you earn points for chatting playing games, posting on discussion boards or rating, viewing pages, things like that....... email me at katsrplayin@aol.com and i will send you a referral link. I get points for doing that. The site is free. NO emails, spam, spameamils adware or spyware, surveys to do and it is alot more informative than this site. I like it alot better
