We have been looking for a new day care for my 15months old daughter Kyleigh for a while. I was getting more and more discouraged because there was always something I didn't like about each of the places we looked at. I was about to enroll her in a day care that was "all right", but something told me that was not the right decision. So I searched and called some more.
I found a new place by referral from another referral. When I spoke to the school owner over the phone, we just completely "clicked". I was delighted because we seemed to have the same point of view in terms of child care, and she just sounded genuinely sincere and loving. When I told my husband that I withdrew the enrollment (from the "all right" day care) because I enjoyed the phone conversation with the new school owner, he was very skeptical and said that she was just a better salesperson.
We took Kyleigh for a visit this morning and participated in one of the activity sessions with the existing class. Kyleigh had a great time, and I was very happy with what I saw. The school owner was as enthusiastic as when we were on the phone. The teachers were very involved and warm. The kids were comparable in age and height. One kid in particular kept sharing her stuff with Kyleigh. We sat back and Kyleigh walked to join the group on her own. The teachers even wore booties to cover up their shoes.
After we got home, my husband and my mom both agreed that this was the best place out of all the facilities we saw. I was just a little bummed because ("of course") this is also the most expensive place we have seen, and it is also slightly out of my way to work. But considering everything, the money should not be the deciding factor.
I am going back there tomorrow to do the enrollment paperwork and give them the big fat $2,035 check (ouch). I feel confident and relieved, though, because the search is finally over, and I believe Kyleigh will enjoy this day care. Well, I hope so, anyway.

Good luck! I have never had to do this so don't know the right questions or replies. Nor how to send wishes along to you.
The $2,035 includes the annual registration fee, the first month's tuition, and a security deposit (equivalent of 2 weeks' tuition). I still have to pay extra for snacks because the tuition only covers lunches.
But yes, I do realize that the peace of mind and Kyleigh's happiness have no price tag.
