According to a definition that I saw online today, I am a Christian Pagan. I don't understand how it works. From what I was able to grasp, pagans believe that everything has a spirit. So how does that make me a pagan? For the longest time I've shared a partial belief with pagans. I believe that all living things have a spirit. Now in my church (Mormon) we are taught that everything that is naturally occurring on the Earth was created spiritually first and then created physically. It only makes sense that living things would in some ways be similar to our creation. Do you follow me so far? It just makes senses that humans, animals and plants, but especially human and animals have spirits; have souls. A soul according to the (Mormon) church is the union of physical body with the spirit. Yeah...so I figure that I am partially pagan. I don't know what this says about me as a person but let me change the subject just a bit.
I do consider animals to have spirits and likewise to have souls. This belief makes me view animals as fellow beings. However, I'm not going to allow a mosquito to bite me. I don't want to die from any disease that their bite might leave behind. I do try to release any wasp or other critter that I find in my house or in my room. I wouldn't want someone to squash me into a pancake. I also wouldn't want to die from poison or other cruel means. Hmm...Now I have to go a little bit further on this. I am by no means a vegetarian but I do think we need to take care of our wild brothers and sisters.
I hold this belief very close to my heart. I've said this before but respect for our fellow creatures is very, very important. Respect is what keeps me from being bit. It's a love deep inside of me that has always been there. On some level perhaps, I think animals see this. I know my brother's dogs know this. They seem to love me. Now what I don't know is their love because of their acceptance into the pack or is it based on some animal and human friendship. Well whatever it is, it is the force that makes me want others to know about animals. It's this force that makes me want to save them. We (Mormons) are also taught that we were given stewardship over the Earth. I don't believe that this means we are given the right and privilege to destroy everything we touch. Anyway, I'm out for now.

I am a proud Pagan, but I do not believe in Christainity as a rule, the bible and what not. I do not believe in sanctioned religions or mortar churches.
When I cut my herbs, I thank the Goddess for giving of her harvest, and I practice the old rituals that todays christain have taken over.
Happiness and blessings.
