How long would you keep your job if you came to work and defied the rules you agreed to work under?
How long would keep your job if you came to work and assaulted a co-worker?
How long would your keep your job if you were willfully insubordinate?
"A public school teacher preached his Christian beliefs despite complaints by other teachers and administrators and used a device to burn the image of a cross on students' arms, ...... (He)........also creationism in his science class and was insubordinate in failing to remove a Bible and other religious materials from his classroom, ............. "

Apparently quite a while if you are a school teacher in Ohio.

Ashley. What's shocking is that the teacher was allowed to be insubordinate and blatently violate the Separation of Church and State long enough to inflict that burn onto a student. As that kids parent I would now be in jail for kicking that teachers ass. Now THAT would make the headlines.
I am disinclined to use this story as a sweeping indictment of a class of people.
I am happy to use this story to point the finger at those in authority who did not act more forcefully when confronted with a subordinate who was willfully flaunting his disregard for the rules.
Thanks for your comments about Chester Atkins and Merle Travis on my post. Travis's son, Thom Bresch, was at the festival, but I missed him. We heard lots of stories about Chet, however. I like Les Paul at lot, too. I saw him in NY about 10 years ago. Frank Vignola, a jazz guitarist a la Django and more, and who made a big impression on me at Nashville, backed up LP for a number of years at the Iridium club.
Best wishes!
State here, Church there. Simple. This is how we do things in the USA. Don't violate it, or lose your job.
