Happy
Easter to my Gather writing friends who celebrate the holiday. Happy Spring to those who don't.
For today's writing essential, please submit stories/articles/poems, etc. on how you celebrate Easter/Spring.
Do you color Easter eggs, attend sunrise services at the beach, dress up in Easter finery to attend church, or is it just an ordinary day?
Easter for me has always been the most brilliant of holidays. Christ rose from the tomb on Easter morning, providing Christians with the ultimate celebration of celebrations. For years I colored Easter eggs with my children, and am a bit embarrassed to say that even though the older three are now 23, 25 and 27....I packed up and sent shoe-box Easter baskets to each of them...complete with candy stuffed into tacky plastic eggs, a chocolate bunny and fake Easter grass. Church is a big part of my Easter Sunday. I had feared that this would be my first Easter spent apart from my husband and youngest son, but alas they'll be boarding a plane at Boston's Logan airport tonight to join me here in Fort Myers throughout the weekend.
That means I now have to plan the Easter meal. Do you cook a ham? I happen to love ham, but hubby would rather eat a can of Pedigree Chopped Chicken and Rice than eat a slice of ham, so I always come up with a viable alternative.
So please send your submissions on your Easter celebrations/non-celebrations. Be sure to use Thursday Writing Essential in the tags, and maybe drop a hint in the title if you can....this makes it easier for me to find your submission.
Happy Easter! Happy Spring!
