The weeds live harmoniously amongst the blooms.

The scent of my dark purple lilacs lingers but the colour is fading. That heady vibrancy is no longer center stage in my garden. Now, the oriental poppies show off their brilliant orange. I want to stand here and appreciate the moment - hold onto this memory for a long time.

There are many worlds entwined in this Great Basin, High Desert world in Eureka, Nevada - amongst the flowers growing, rusting art becomes steel magnolias in honor of my beloved Louisiana.

My bottle tree keeps away the evil spirits...

Flowers keep blooming and I'd love to know the names of all of these - there are so many more that I'll present another time.

Thank you all for blessing me with your time and for viewing these. Salud

Thank you Svetlana - I appreciate the visit and glad you like the bottle tree! Salud
gorgeous, miz m!! thank you for sharing these lovely colors today!
Jessie - Thank you and when you get a chance, please email me your mailing address. Salud
You have such a peaceful, serene spirit, Mariana! Only in your yard would the flowers and weeds live in harmony! Lovely!!!
Marianne - bless your heart and I hope so - you know I feel sorry for things that can't live naturally - everything deserves to be happy and free. Salud
love the bottle tree!
Cristina - I appreciate that and I need to go and pay you a visit . Salud
Beautiful! and rare - that is the first bottle tree I've ever seen! I always wondered where bottles came from. Thanks Mariana for the delightful diversion.
Funky tree. Lovely flowers. You are lucky your lilacs lasted this long. Mine don't live long here in the mountains. I feel bad for them.
Very beautiful....my lilacs have been gone for about 2 weeks, the poppies have been gone for a week. My irises are on their way out. I do annuals for the summer in my whiskey barrels and my cemetery urn.
Beautiful photos. I absolutely love the scent of lilacs...
Omgosh Luv....I totally adore this!!! Your place there is darling....I have a washtub just like yours that catch the sunflower seeds that spill and the birds knock out from the feeder!!!!! The bottle tree is adorable.....I have some bottles to start me a 'bottle tree' but have not taken the time to do it!!!
Please post this to my group bloomerlovers
This is a wonderful photo essay. I have never seen a bottle tree before. Cool
First off, I've got to tell you that there is a HUGE "bottle tree" in nearby Petaluma CA! Rather than the bottles being stuck on an actual tree, however, someone has made a wooden frame with dowels sticking out that, when all of the dowels have green wine bottles upside down on them, the overall shape of the entire structure is a "cone" that resembles nothing so much as an evergreen tree! :o)
As regards your flower IDs: Well, I suppose you already KNOW one of them is a "white lilac", of course... The last photo up there is DEFINITELY a "Japanese honeysuckle" -- I have one just like it!
The best guess I have on your purple flowers (shown in a close-up shot in "show all photos" but not reproduced in the article) is "purple trisomic stock" (single petaled variety). Although, I couldn't be sure unless I could see the leaves and seed pods up close... I CAN tell you, however, that it is a member of the "brassicaceae" (formerly "cruciferi") or "mustard" family...
Cute place, M'Lady!
Hi Jean, thanks so much for commenting...and for telling me the names of some of the flowers - I've taken a few close-ups that I'll send or post soon...I so appreciate knowing that's a Japanese honey-suckle as they are all over the garden! I've seen lots of bottle trees and the hub was going to make one similar; however, my tree has died - or gone way dormant - so I decided to do it the old fashioned way...I have a friend down the road who was inspired to weld a tree with bottles...the ones down in bayou land are similar to mine - the best are the ones with the blue bottles - I may make a cone one in Santa Barbara - we'll see...and thanks for telling me about the purple trisomic stock - this garden is filled with such a variety and now there will be more as I've hired a gardener to water and get some of the cheat grass but let the flowers - bud...and seed first...thanks for commenting, Jean...enjoy your weekend!!! I'll catch up with you soon. Salud
Wow, Mariana...jean has Forgotten more than i ever knew about flowering plants,lol..and I used to be a gardener.... part of it I can blame on the ol' eyesight, but not most. :)
Now, tell us about the "bottle" tree and how it keeps the evil at bay? It is Most intersting, as is your way cool yard..and...you..... :)
Your yard looks neat, I like those orange flowers.
Great photo essay! Thanks for sharing it. Tell us more about the bottle tree sometime.
You are most welcome, lovely lady! :o)
Pretty photos!
I really enjoyed this tour of the grounds. You've got a lot of interesting stuff going on there. Very charming.
Oh, I miss the fragrance of lilacs (grew up in the Ohio Valley). Your poppies are spectacular. Your bottle tree brought a smile. I had a "bottle brush" tree in New orleans - the red blossoms look exactly like a bottle brush. They are also quite plentiful here in southeastern Florida and grow to several feet tall. Enjoy your garden oasis. My website, below, depicts some paintings I did of poppies - and other subjects.

I can just smell the lilacs and I revel in your garden tour. Blessed Be.
This has been an absolutely delightful breath of fresh air, Mariana! Thank you for sharing all the rich, colorful beauty with us.
Thanks Mariana for the beautiful pics of you, your home and your garden!! REally enjoyed it!!!
I love the tangle.
lovely, honey. and love that hat!
Isabella is just glorious in all her spring outfits. Our lilac is just blooming this week...the scent is just wonderful. Love your bottle tree.
The zuchinni is bloomin' here!
Sistah, thank you for blessing us with this beautiful photo essay! I love the orange poppies and the smell of lilacs is absolutely intoxicating. I also love the weeds growing harmoniously with the blooms. Wild gardens are my favorite.
Also liked the pic of you workin' in the garden ;)
Poppies - reminds me of Wizard of Oz! - beautiful flowers! Thanks for sharing your green thumb!
The names aren't important...the fact that you are connected to nature and to its wonder and beauty IS!
Such a lovely place.
I love poppies and lilacs.....your bottle tree made me laugh! Wonderful essay, Miss Mariana.........
What a paradise...with an angel behind a lawnmower. (Sounds like the start a pretty decent song!) Beautiful!
Just gorgeous, Mariana. I love the Oriental poppies and bottle tree.
Janell, thanks so much- yes, I love the poppies as well - very free - I do miss Isabel sooo much. Salud
Your photos are lovely and I think I will start a bottle tree to keep the evil spirits away too.
Diva - if I can find your email address, will send you some links about them...they're fun and blue bottles work best! Salud
The pictures are beautiful. My lilacs did not bloom as long this year, but the smells were still intoxicating, the bees loved them too. Your yard is beautiful. I used to own a push mower like the one you are pushing in the picture, but I got too old to push it and gave it to a happy person. Thanks for sharing part of your world with us. I hope today is your best day yet.
Lee - I had one here at my other place and the hub threw it away - I was so mad as I do not like motors and it was fun to push it along...I love lilacs and so appreciate you coming by Lee...thank you. Salud
What a lovely garden, Mariana!
Such a fabulous photo essay, too!
Now, if I tell my visitors "See how harmoniously the weeds live amongst the blooms!" does that mean I don't have to weed anymore? I like it! :-)
Curt - did I tell you my middle name was Tom Sawyer? I'm waiting for you to come visit me so you can weed and paint my fence...lol...Thanks...I wish I had time to do everything but since I don't I just let everything go to seed - I have an old gentleman coming in to weed and cut the grass for the summer months but in the spring, I let it all hang out! Salud
Beautiful.
I see someone mowing the lawn and practicing for the State's lawn mower pushing championship. Yes, it could be you and those beautiful orange flowers show your true Detroit Tiger spirit. I take it you like the Tigers. You could make Tiger stew for the event. Something with real bite.
William - how did I miss this funny comment - omg - you're sooo damn funny - yes, it looks like I'm out for an olympic medal, doesn't it - Tigerstew - why not - people eat anything that has eyes - (I don't) I'll stick with Poppie popsickles! Salud
The lilacs are fading
But the winds hold the essence
A hint of heaven
A feeling of peace for today
Oh thank you and that's so true - I do miss my Isabel - but Florence has her own charm as well. Salud
The bottle tree is so so beautiful and your places are absolutely gorgeous.
Love
Buzzy - you are so kind to say that!!! Hugs my Sistah and have a glorious day! Salud
I adore your bottle tree, and the picture of you with it !!! YOU ARE SO CUTE !!!
Now you need to curl up under one of those trees with beer and HOLLYWOOD SINNERS !!!
ha ha
You are so right - I need to do that for sure, Peter. I'm back in Santa Barbara and on my way to bayouland very soon...then, I may have more time to prop feet up on porch railings and read! Salud
Does this mean Peter is a tree hugger???
what a lovely post
Jorge - thank you so very much. Salud
love the poppies...
Kathryn - thanks very much for coming by! Salud
