As a conservative who listens to NPR I always cringe when they announce another commentary from Daniel Schorr. Last night’s commentary was also another cringe moment, but for other reasons. (You can listen to and read the transcript here.) “I am baffled by Col. Moammar Gadhafi's behavior in giving a hero's welcome to the one man convicted in the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103.”
Yes, Mr. Schorr, you have every right to be baffled because you clearly do not get it. I really encourage you to read the transcript because the shock and horror that Mr. Schorr expresses is a part of the whole liberal self-delusion of international politics.
Now let’s go over to the right at GOPUSA and look at a commentary from Christopher Adamo. (You can read the commentary here.) There is no reason to be baffled, already having been humbled by an attack authorized by President Reagan, the tyrant was scared by the takedown of Hussein in 2003 and brokered a deal with the US to be on our good side.
That was then, but why now? Mr. Adamo comments that the recent triumph of Ahmadinejad once again bolsters tyrants of all stripes. The fear of American resolve has been removed from the world tyrants who can not only spit in your face with immunity, but fully expect to be able to walk over to your house and spit in your face on your very front lawn.
Mr. Schorr wonders why Gadhafi would do such things given possible potential visits by Britain’s Duke of York and with President Obama. The answer is clear. He doesn’t fear them, why should he care whether he meets with them or not? Not everyone is into worshiping The One.

They hang onto the rose colored glasses of "if we're nice, they'll be nice". Those who easily give up their religious training cannot comprehend the reality of the obsession of those whose "duty" is to kill those who have different faiths.
