President Obama promised that 95% of workers would not see their taxes raised by one single dime. Well, he really didnt mean that. The buget Obama released includes a cap and trade policy. Dont let the administration lie to you this is a tax that you will see. It will be a tax that affects every single taxpayer (well as long as you have electricity) through their power bills. Those households already struggling to hang out during the recession will be faced with a new tax that comes every month. Not exactly what the President would have you believe.
To make matters even worse, in the middle of the recession President Obama is proposing a plan that will drive manufacturing jobs out of the United States. In Europe where they have already instiuted a similar policy steel workers have been protesting as they are losing jobs by the day and the manufacturing sector is shrinking at an alarming rate.
Obama would like everyone to believe that none of these policies will hurt them. But, the reality is far from what the administration would have us to believe. This is not the time for failed social movements like climate change fearmongering. But, a time where we should be helping buisness and households recover and prosper when the recession ends.

Regardless, it would be interesting to see some calculations form the Obamaites on the effects of this tax on US industry.
The idea, it seems to me, is that the taxes paid should, to a considerable degree, reflect the benefits derived by the tax payer. As it stands now, one percent of the people own 97 percent of the property (assets) and don't pay anywhere near 97% of the taxes.
When that one percent who have almost all the assets pay almost all the taxes then and only then will the tax burden seem fair to me.
Obama has offered up tax relief for lower and middle-income families to help bring down the cost. This, as well as subsidies to renewable energy technologies and tax breaks to weatherize homes will help the program.
No it is not encouragement it is forcing
"Obama has offered up tax relief for lower and middle-income families to help bring down the cost. This, as well as subsidies to renewable energy technologies and tax breaks to weatherize homes will help the program."
Ah, so we should just let government control all our actions. Actually, the flaw is that he is spending more money subsadizing a alternative energy system that does not work in the free market and then taxes the other side to double dip in forcing the system to work against the market. And then the real kicker dont worry he will pay the bill for some of you. We dont need his market busting wealth transfer system. It either works in the market or does not. IF he cared so much about emissions he would be advocating Nuclear Power which is cheap and efficient.
I think that it is a no brainer that we will pay it. Refer to Econ 101 with difficulties
Same goes for the interstate highway system. We have had our cities and industries fueled by the construction of the road system across this country. Cities and suburbs have been built around them. They spurred the growth of the automotive industry -- although you could argue that cars fueled the need for highways. Either way, it really wasn't the "free market".
Today we are in a similar situation with our energy industry. Six months ago when oil was at $140 per barrel, wind and solar energy looked attractive. Just as they did when oil prices were high in the late 1970's. Now that prices have dropped again, we hear the same refrain that the "market" won't sustain these technologies. What I find amusing is that the the government has been subsidizing mature industries like the oil and gas industry to the tune of billions of dollars annually and until now, alternative energy didn't have a place at the table.
We are paying a huge tax for our current energy policy. Call it an international tax. We have fought two wars and spent hundreds of billions of dollars in the the Middle East for "Democracy" -- or was it to protect our oil interests? The billions we annually spend to subsidize oil exploration is small potatoes compared to the $460 billion we send overseas to purchase foreign oil.
Cap and trade is one way to encourage companies to reduce carbon emissions and move to cleaner energy and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. It should be look as an extension of our national security and foreign policy.
I would be less against giving some amount of money to pay for research of alternative energy, but cap and trade is a scam. It is like saying you can drive 12,000 miles a year and if you want to drive more you have to buy credits from someone else. It is a restriction on freedom that is unneeded.
You want do demonize the fact we buy oils oversea. Fine, but other countries buy our products and services too. That is a part of being in a global community.
