What is the reason that we should support a war...

I have been sitting here thinking about the reason that we are supposed to support an increase in fighting in Afghanistan.

And unless I am missing something the only reason I can see supporting it, is because Obama says we should support it.

We've been there longer than Iraq, and while the Iraq was not and is not perfect, I just can't help but wonder what the real reason is that we should support this effort.

I'm not saying I am against continuing the war in Afghanistan, I am however saying that I will not just support something because Obama 'thinks' its a good idea.

What purpose will it do the US if we have a troop surge, increase in deaths in Afghanistan, etc.

With the years that we have been in Afghanistan I think its safe to say that Osama is not there. My guess is that either Iran, or Pakistan is harboring him.....

And will staying in Afghanistan eventually lead to us taking on Iran?

In the beginning there was a purpose to Iraq and Afghanistan. Now as we are getting ready to leave Iraq, I worry about them being ready to take over a new government, but there has been no liberation in Afghanistan, its almost certain Bin Laden is not there, and if there is no purpose other than fighting, jsut for the sake of fighting, I can't see any legitimate reason to support a surge in Afghanistan.
