Isn't this old yet? Seems the racist are still alive and well behind the scenes. Obama received two letters, one with racial slurs, and the other with had an actual threat. This has gotten so old, but I guess some people really want America to be known for its weaknesses instead of its strengths. It is like living with the two extremes sometimes. One the one side are those who hate anyone but themselves and the other side that is so bent on not being thought of as racist that they have stopped asking valid questions. Interesting times.

I find that to be true but the majority of those bashing and cursing and name calling to be from the other side of the aisle, by which I mean the Obama camp. VERY few of those who are of the Republican persuasion call names, very few of the Independent thinkers resort to such tactics, however the Democratic supporters.....well.....
I realize an election can bring the worst out in people. Though it is not my usual style and I try not to fall up into such petty behavior, I get so out done with these constant roaming bashers, sometimes I find myself blasting them back, because it gets way out of hand!
Why not just stick to the issues, and we all try to respect each others views.
The bashing is on both sides. It goes to prove that people will say online what they would never say to your face. I have been called every name in the book, but I consider the source, an unknown person somewhere in the world.
If only that were truly possible. There are a couple of commentators that you run into on the posts that have a private agenda, I won't mention specific names but their initials are TS and DS. They comment with name calling and bashing and worse. I regret that there are BOTH sides involved in this, these two are from the anti republican camp. Never can one engage them in intelligent debate on an issue or issues.
I asked once, and it was to either side of the aisle, that regardless of who won in November would you support the office of president and respect the person who held that office. You would not believe the responses, unfortunately from both sides of the aisle. What ever happened to respecting the office and position?
If you look up my profile you can find my home town, my name, and even see a picture of me. I wouldn't hide behind an anonymous posting. I stand by what I feel and believe in. I try to present it in a coherent fashion without the use of bashing, unless absolutely necessary (I do reserve that option, as one of last resort.)
Keep up the great postings.
Why would you take it as about you? News flash, you are not the only person on this site. The guilty know who they are. There was actually a study done that proved people do say and things online that they would not do otherwise. I also don't spend all my time here on gather, and I know that some people are just plain hateful to anyone who doesn't share their opinion. It's just the internet. By the way, I stand behind what I say as well.
As I said, keep up the great postings.
More than a third of all white Democrats and independents—voters Obama can't win the White House without—agreed with at least one negative adjective about blacks, according to the survey, and they are significantly less likely to vote for Obama than those who don't have such views.
Please don't shoot the messenger.
