Barack Obama will announce his own faith based initiatives, turning tables on the conservatives and promoting an idea supposedly a conservative domain. It is an odd position for a liberal to assume, unless the liberal is a believer of the christian faith; Obama makes no secret of his christian heritage, attempting to portray a solid foundation of spiritual yearning, with an uplifting, guiding light for his intellect to follow.

I have come to the conclusion there is nothing John McCain can do.
Fast forward, November....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
President Obama, when will the troops be leaving Iraq? Why isn't there a timetable? Isn't it time to fulfill your campaign promises and bring our boys home now? President Obama, what do you plan in response to Israel's attack on the nuclear plants in Iran?
If Israel does attack Iran's nuclear facilities sometime after November, and Obama is President, sitting in the White House, what does he do? First the Israelis take out a site in Iraq during the 80s, now Syria in the last year, Iraq would be the end of an amazing trifecta.
I believe some of our greatest moments are about to occur, and I believe President Obama will be the face of the USA, proudly embraced by all. Make no mistake, the dogs of war will only become louder as time goes on, and I believe President Obama will become the most fierce warrior-leader our country has ever seen.
With the Middle East in seeming disarray, Mother Russia flush with petro rubles, Iran as a passionate antagonist, and China posing as the 3 ton gorilla sitting in the middle of the room, things are bound to be very interesting over the next decade or two.
Look in Obama's eyes. He's a man to be reckoned with, make no mistake.
As President, I believe Obama's legacy will be in foreign affairs, and I believe he will lead us through a dark period of war, much as FDR, becoming a force in American politics that will never be forgotten.
Look in his eyes-- do you really think anyone is going to "diss" him?

I agree w/ yo that the faith based initiative was a brilliant Obama move.
That said, I agree he will be a great President. He will work hard at bringing the country together because he's an organizer. How can we get anywhere without being united, One People, organized?
To Alan, I would say, there is nothing wrong with a faith-based initiative. It's way better than Ann Colter's suggestion that all Democrats are Godless. Maybe Obama has been reading the Left Hand of God by Michael Learner. Maybe it's time for the Left wing to stand up and acknowledge that over 60% of the country is faith-based. As long as no certain church is running the country, I'm okay with it.
SOMETHING needs to wake the citizens of the USA, and I believe Obama is an alarm clock.
But the title of this alone, made my skin crawl.
gee, tow the party line and look what happens *chuckle*
HEY MOGGY ! ! ! !
It's known that the Viet Cong broke MCcain mentally, and as a result, he seems suffering from serious mental deficit knowns as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
aside from PTS, one has to wonder what effect the torture had on his mind.
It's not that his temper gets the best of him, he's mentally disturbed and time after time, has made
statements that suggest he's either confused, unaware of the reality of the situation, or true lier.
If McCain's experience could not help him vote against the Iraq war, how will it help him make America safer and better by conytinuing failed Bush policy?
These are serious troubling issues for a president
No MCBush = No more War
McClueless, MCold, MC stupid, gotta love McFlipFlopper, This guy is true lier and clueless about Iraq war.
American people are not stupid, to give MCBush failed policy & US occupation of Iraq another four years to let him
figure out that Iran and Iraq did not have anything to do with 9/11, Alquida in Iraq is outcome of US occupation.
MCstupid has to listen to Irqi lawmakers that are saying US occupation is fueling insurgency and they can take care of their country.

No MCBush = No more War"
Simon,
Wrong. We are in the middle of a war. The war on Terror. Obama will have no choice but to continue.
Yes, we will see.....
But it's funny how McCain was always such a maverick and a Republican In Name Only and now he's McSame. lol
Ah, those moon bats are so funny.
I do not wanna - obama (Obamination more like)
Im not saine about mccaine
Bring in Pee Wee Herman - he can do it he has about as much experience with politics as Obamaination does.
Watch for Obama's upcoming overseas trip. I think the reception he'll recieve will overwhelm even his most ardent critics. Yes, I've looked into his eyes and realize this guy is not just what America's been waiting for, he's what the whole world has been waiting for. I agree that he will leave a most impactful foreign policy legacy, but it won't be as a warrior, it will be as a peacemaker.
Bammie will be a laugh riot as president, too bad the joke will be on us.
Haste makes waste/He who hesitates is lunch.
Sounds kind of silly, doesn't it.
What I see in Obama's eyes is merely the reflection of the teleprompter.
I support McCain. Not my first choice but the choice I will maintain.
The issue is HOW. We're in Iraq. What's next? There are terrorists out there. How do we deal with them?
This is not about "we have to continue;" it's about "how" we continue. Be careful with leaning on false choices...at least stick with real issues with choices between real options for how to move forward.
Come on Ivan. That doesn't have any meaning.
What is it that you don't like about Obama? First, make sure that it is true (so much about both candidates is spun so far from reality that it is tough to tell sometimes). Then that is what you base your decision on. If you vote against (or for) either candidate, it should be based on facts, your own analysis of what skill set the path forward would require, and then your best evaluation of which candidate has the closest skill set to your analysis (or can learn it). We all need to do that.
As I said, the next few decades are bound to be entertaining.
So think quality over quantity.
Thanks Deborah and James Ascher.
Lincoln actually had a paper thin resume, and is considered to be one of our greatest presidents, taking the United States through one of the most stressful period in American history! I concur we need serious change and it will not happen with McCain. I respect McCain for his service to our country but that does not make him presidential material.
As you stated, only time will tell!
There is nothing to fear or forestall action, when acting alone is required
I hope like hell you are wrong about a major war that he'll lead us through but I never thought we'd be in Iraq for over 5 years either. Think if the Repubs do to him what the Dems did to Bush that those same Dems will be silent or still scream?
Did you really think that we could go into Iraq, destabilize the entire Mideast, and establish something that would re stabilize things in less than 5 years. My own guess was 30 or more years.
Obama needn't fear what the Republicans will do, it is what the Democrats may do if they envision him as an outsider like they did Carter. If that occurs, he will be hog tied in everything he attempts. Congress likes to remind all new presidents just who has the control. And that is both sides of the isle. Actually, the Republicans worked Clinton over pretty well, worse than either side had previously practiced.
When the worlds largest consumer of oil changes the economic structure of the domestic oil market the ripple effect will drop oil like a stone. The dollar will rise and the Saudis, now flush with REAL money will be more than happy to stabilize the world economies and maintain oil at a sustainable cost. The Texas boys will have to cry in their caviar and whine about the good old days when Dubya was their friend in the White House.
American involvement in Iraq is a done deal. The SOFA in the works puts contractors at legal risk in Iraqi courts. Since they've marauded like maniacs for the last 5 years the locals will enjoy doing a little domestic "waterboarding" of their own. That means civilian contractors will dry up. Since the military is near broken the only recourse will be exit. The "oil deal" only gives infrastructure development to US companies and the big prize will be open to the world bidders.
On every front Dubya has screwed the pooch and Obama and the Dems will be left with the mess. At preset it appears the Dems will pick up 6 seats in the Senate and quite a number in the House. January 09 will mark the end of the "Reagan revolution" and the true begining of America in the 21st Century.
Being who he is and a first of hisk ind I think he is going to be given all of the tools that he needs to suceed! I believe that all of the people that re condemning him now will be on the band wagon saying they knew it all along! Except for maybe Carol, who is yet again on here fabricating her own version of what is the truth and doing more harm than good for the people that she thinks she is helping. Can anyone here tell me that they were swayed by anything the "untruth defector" says" With the exception of her pushing them further away from where she is trying to pull them into.
I love it, I think she is the single most vote getter for Obama on here and the funny part is that she doesn't even get it at all.
Do you really think WE put ourselves in the Prediciment or do you think the Biased Media put us in the Prediciment were in? If your not recieving the kudos from the networks, your not going anywhere in a Presidency Race. How about the Superdelagates, do you think they have any responcibility in who we have to choose from?
OBAMA is an Appeaser to whatever situation he stands before and I believe he is an unethical man. He will be voting on Legislation dealing with bailout of Certian Financial Institutions that gave him large Campaign Contributions. Sound Ethical to you? He would like to do away with firearms, sound like he supports the Constitution? I guess when they do away with firearms and people resort to using baseball bats they will try to make them illegal also. This guy is bad news anyway you slice him up. I have no use for McCain either, in fact if it comes to that we might as well leave W in the Oval Office.
man, stranger than fiction is correcto mundo,eh?
good on you,Jack......congrats for the FP feature, too
cheers,gayle
He keeps "evolving" at every turn. First, we are out of Iraq in 16 months, then we will see. Then, we will raise taxes on the rich, then we will see. Maybe we reform heath-care, maybe we won't.
Look, this guy is saying and doing whatever to get himself elected. What policies does he absolutely, positively belive in that he will not change or alter to get himself in the White House?
Yes, I did mean to say Iran there....
Didn't you mean secede ??? *chuckle*
But, again we "elected" the guy we would rather have a beer with, versus the smart guy and lookie where we're at now!
Can people be that stupid?
Shun, always love to hear from the left wing nutcases.....
Job security is not a condition of employment, it is a state of mind. No jobs are secure. The person who thinks his is needs to understand reality.
You stated that "Look, this guy is saying and doing whatever to get himself elected. " This is true of all candidates for office. That's part of the rules of the game. Which candidate is going to tell the bad things about himself? McCain did his jumping to the popular bandwagon early in the campaign in order to win the nomination. He was clearly "saying and doing whatever to get himself elected. "
Try it, you'll like it!
Of course.
Bruce Becking, this statement is another diversionary tactic. When SCOTUS handed down their recent decision on gun laws Obama clearly stated he was for the individual's right to own a gun, "reasonable and commonsense regulation"
Check it out here
Part of being a reasoning, thinking being is the ability to research, make decissions and change your ideas and beliefs based on available facts rather than the blind regurgitation of what all your 'friends' say.
I have my reservations about Obama but I still support him as a necessary component of the change needed to bring us back on track as a prosperous nation that stands up for the ideals of Freedom expressed by the founding fathers. With the recognition of our need for constant growth (not necessarily physical!) and evolving ideals to fit our everchanging world.
Even at a cellular level lack of change and regulated growth is present only after death. In biology when an organism or entity stops growing and changing death is immanent. This trannslates even into the level of community whether local or global...
I appreciate the link you posted concerning Obama's stance on guns. However, it states "He will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport, and use guns for the purposes of hunting and target shooting."
I would submit that hunting and target shooting are great, but they are not the major reason for the right to keep and bear arms. The right to self defense, the right to not have a police state are also two very big reasons. Plus, the right to keep and bear arms was the reason my father and brother were in the first and second world wars. To even talk about giving up this vital right, as is suggested in another article and thread today, is to demean the efforts of both of my relatives.
I think if Obama is elected, that he will be a rather strong president who operates pragmatically and logical. I could certainly be wrong, without a crystal ball but that is my gut feeling. I think he will disappoint some because he will be for the solution that works, regardless who's idea it was.
Yes, some of his positions are evolving and that is to be expected as he tries to move more to the center for the general election. McCain has flipped in order to get the nomination and he will be moving back more to the center in the coming months. Of course, I would not want a president who stuck with wrong ideas and bad concepts regardless of the evidence. We already have that! So I do not begrudge Obama or McCain their moves to the center at this time. It is the center that will elect the president.
Its usually people who self inject their opinions based on ignorance that cause Stupidity. I listen very closely to Obama and don't try to read in any agenda. The great thing about Obama is he does all the footwork for you. Listen to his next speech and take two or three of the subjects he discusses and make notes on his stance. Then go to Congress.org and look up his voting record on the subject he talks about and compare them. See if the facts from his voting record actually support his Talk. I think you will be quite surprised at the differences you find.
Wake up America, as long as we allow the above equation to continue we will get fed more and more of the same.
Evolve according to Webster= to unroll, to roll, Develope Work out social, political and Literary Philosiphies. To Produce by natural evolution any processes. EMIT. To undergo evolutionary change.
Kathleen I recieved a hand writen letter from my US Rep in regards to a letter I sent him. I asked him how as a Superdeligate he could vote and possibly wipe out the votes of the mass majority of his constituents if he wanted to. His reply Was " I will do what I think is in the best interest of our state." What I hoped to hear was that he will listen to the wishes of the majority of the People he represents in Our State and REPRESENT US. I am tired of playing games with these self serving Politicians and the only way to stop it is to fire them.
Obama is a pragmatist who loves and will adhere to our Constitution. That will be a refreshing, patriotic and American change.
Salud
Its unfortunate but true. As long as America sets and does nothing to fix the problems your right. Its easier to ignore what needs to be fixed than to do something about the problems. What it boils down to is we have reared a nation of feel gooders that wont ruffle the sheets because it might offend someone. Hell lets just build bigger fences so we cant see the problems and my lemonade time wont be interupted. NATION OF APPEASERS. Why not as long as WE THE PEOPLE are footing the bill. WHO CARES????
*sighs over comments inevitable spiraling into partisan, political craziness*
Is it December yet?
Louis, thanks but no thanks. Bob Barr nearly ensures an Obama presidency.
dummy -- stealing elections ??? grow up dude....
