CNN's excellent story on the Obama campaign and how it is becoming cult-like, with Obama as the equivalent of a political "Jim Jones".
Even a fellow Democrat who likes Obama, Joe Klein, admits :
"Obama's message is becoming dangerously self-referential. The Obama campaign is all too often is about how wonderful the Obama campaign is".
Wow!
And here's another tidbit from David Brooks, an avowed Left Winger and Obama-backer :
"Pretty soon, Obama's followers will be selling flowers at the airport".
VIDEO
I thought it was funny when I heard reports about young women in the front row at Obama rallies, fainting. Turns out, they're just born-again Obama-ites who've had a little too much Kool-Aid, got hot and bothered by Obama's message, and fell over after standing a little too close to their "Messiah".
Funny.

Did I leave anything out?
Yep. Obama better start taking insult lessons from McCain. Damn if I want women called sweetie! So . . . what do you say Bretty . . . is cunt ok . . . but NOT sweetie? Just curious.
Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~
Oh that "sweetie" incident is a laugher at best. I don't hold it against Obama.
However, I do hold his Socialist beliefs against him. Go to barackobama.com, take a look at the programs he wants to fund, and you'll see what I mean.
As for the "trollop" incident...............consider me skeptical. I don't suppose there was any video of that, was there?
Notice Clark Kent throws the racist card anytime anyone says anything about his little Golden Boy. He can crticize the elected President of the United States and spit on that office, but heaven forbid anyone talk about Obama and is lack of experience and policies that would destroy America.
I can name a few, but all will spawn new, off-topic discussions...............so how about if we just start with a big one first : Social Security.
Obama, through his economic adviser Austan Goolsbee, has stated that he wants to increase payroll deductions to save this Ponzi scheme from the inevitable insolvency that will occur around 2011. What's awful about that policy, and what pushes it under the "Socialism" category is that this was exactly the same program that Jimmy Carter actually introduced in 1977. It was a horrible disaster because the teetering economy couldn't support it. Americans had already endured large tax increases with Carter and couldn't take much more. This caused revenues at the IRS in 1978, 1979, and 1980 to plummet.
Government "overreaching" does that, Chucky. It affects market mechanisms adversely.
Anyhow, when our government goes on fishing expeditions to determine what the upper limits of our tax tolerances are................well, it generally turns out to be a Socialistic disaster - like it did with Carter, and like it will with Obama. The die is cast, Obama can't do anything to change history. This will happen, no matter how he implements it.
We should be making government smaller and less Socialistic, Chucky, not bigger, more bloated, and less responsive to our needs.
I have to admit, I chuckled that Obama had yet another flub, on-the-air..............but I'm not gonna hold that one against him.
I'm much more worried about Obama's lack of foreign affairs experience, his promise to raise the marginal income tax rate, and his offer to go to Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba, and North Korea without any preconditions within his first year of being elected President.
Those bother me far more than a stupid, insensitive remark.
He does those almost daily now. LOL
And McCain wants to increase the solvency problem by supporting Private accounts which would more rapidly raise a problem, enrich the 'approved' brokers and create more problems later with people who mismanage their funds. You may not mind grandmothers living in cardboard boxes in alleys, but I do . . . and this was NEVER meant to be an investment fund . . . it was a security net.
"Bret you and I know that sweetie is an offensive word. Enough said."
Brilliant. When Obama calls his wife a cunt in public (like McCain) . . . that'll be fine, eh?
"As for the "trollop" incident...............consider me skeptical. I don't suppose there was any video of that, was there?"
Same incident pal. Published and with numerous witnesses (aides and reporters) in Cliff Schecter's recent book, The Real McCain. Google "McCain Cunt" for countless links including one in which he refused to answer a minister who asked about the exchange.
Regardless of the outcome, it's a good thing. Maybe, finally, Americans are finally starting to pay attention to the political process. Maybe it's time for the Old Guard of American Politics to look over their shoulder. Maybe for the first time in a long, long time the true wants and desires of the American people will be heard one way or another.
How is that bad?
"And McCain wants to increase the solvency problem by supporting Private accounts which would more rapidly raise a problem"
This is EXACTLY the correct thing to do, Doyle. Funding SSI further only compounds the pain of eventual insolvency. Private accounts, with deductions attributed to individual taxpayers by Social Security number makes these accounts much more responsive to those who actually earn the money. SSI right now is just one big pool of funds that Congress frequently reaches into, to attempt to balance the Federal Budget, or pay for pet projects. It does not matter who is President, or what party is in power - they ALL do it. It's just too tempting for them.
When the money is attributed to one individual, that power to "reach in" is blocked. Besides, do you really want the government touching even more of YOUR money? I don't. Your SSI money is YOURS, not THEIRS. You earned it. Why let someone else spend it?
We digress.
Obama's campaign has often become more about how fantastic he is, rather than focusing on the issues. I find this to be incredibly self-serving and egotistical. Most people, even after going to barackobama.com and looking at his policies and platforms are still confused on where he stands on the issues. You know why?
Because Obama doesn't tell you straight away.
You have to dig to find out.
And you have to listen to his policy speeches - which are very few in number.
On his website, he just tells you all the programs he supports - which turns out to be almost every program ever suggested.
The only things he doesn't support are : reducing taxes, shrinking government, returning failing public entities to the private sector, and free trade................in addition, his policies are clearly anti-business.
Don't bother asking. These lunatic fringe nutjob wingnuts don't have a clue what they're talking about when they say this. They obviously know nothing of Obama's positions on issues, because if they did, they'd see that he's in line with the vast majority of Americans on every single issue.
Remember, to the delusional, brain damaged, moonbat wingnuts, when the majority of America opposes them, it means that extremist wingnutism is right, and everyone else in the country is wrong. They just can't seem to get it that, after nearly 30 years of miserably failed neocon policies, the nation is done with that extremist brand of politics, and wants change.
With nothing whatsoever to offer, the only hope for the fascist wingnut gang is to attempt to paste what they consider to be derogatory labels on Obama. If Hillary were winning, they'd do the same of her, of course. They simply have nothing to offer, yet again, and so are once again reduced to smears, fears, and queers. What a sad, pathetic lot they are.
Good Morning, Clark, Blessed day to you. Thanks for representing.
Wilka
However, I pretty much gave up on Bret. He's as certain sure he's right, as we are certain sure he's not. He's just an ajeetator and a mud slinger. As Karl said, above, "The only hope for the fascist wingnut gang is to attempt to paste... "bad labels" ...and so on.
Its a part time job, at best.
Wilka
Bret : "Be specific Bret, which policy is socialistic?"
Clark : Don't bother asking. These lunatic fringe nutjob wingnuts don't have a clue what they're talking about when they say this. They obviously know nothing of Obama's positions on issues, because if they did, they'd see that he's in line with the vast majority of Americans on every single issue. "
Sounds like you just didn't like my answer.....LOL
Big surprise.
Doyle asked a good question, and I answered it.
What you're promoting is just 'more of the same'.................and that is failing us all. The individual accounts solution is a new, more accountable step in the right direction. You can't actually be falling for that "let's pump even more money into SSI to save it!" nonsense, can you?
I mean, that's just pushing more money down a rathole............
Have fun swarm.
I'm a Hillary supporter, and you're right - she has nothing left. It's all about Obama now.
But his Socialism won't win him the White House. Socialist candidates have been locked out for 30 years. And this one will be too.
There's not one thing humble about you, Tony.
Moral?
This is politics, my naive rube-like friend.
You don't have blood all over you...............you have shame all over you.
WMD's were found, Tony.
In your basement.
