Obama backtracks today & disowns Jeremiah Wright..........ouch!

"You know, I have been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ since 1992. I have known Reverend Wright for almost 20 years. The person I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago. His comments were not only divisive and destructive, but I believe that they end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate and I believe that they do not portray accurately the perspective of the black church."

I wonder if Jeremiah Wright heard those words.  I bet he did.
Sounded like a disowning to me.

Well done. This Rev. was way out of line. I saw his NAACP diner speech mocking JFK. Doing Michigan marching band noises and dancing. It was a spectacle. Then he said Obama distanced himself because he is a politician responding to polls. He left him no choice.
First his Granny, now his Spiritual Advisor. He's still a day late and a dollar short on this issue for me.

Hey, this is the guy that said "words mean something", right? I'm just holding him to his own words.........that's all.

Obama said that words have meaning. He stole the quote from Deval Patrick, but nonetheless Obama said it more than once, and did not give Gov. Patrick any attribution. Don't you remember this from Obama's previous scandal when he used Deval Patrick's speech highlights and got caught by the media?

"Don't tell me words don't matter," he said in his remarks. " 'I have a dream.' Just words? 'We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.' Just words? 'We have nothing to fear but fear itself.' Just words? Just speeches?"

His associates have done him in. Wright, Ayers, Farrakhan, Michelle Obama.

All I can say is its about time tha Rev. would have done and has done more damage than Hillary could have ever done with a whole team of people running adds no stop everywhere. He gave the rev.forgiveness the first time and he did it again I'd have done the same thing even if i not running for president. It was the right choice.

Remember, a day before, Wright said that the "attacks" against him were actually attacks against the Black church. Obama directly contradicted him, in the closing line of the statement you quoted, Brett. It was a straight up disowning, I concur.

I wonder when Obama will disown the black community, and his white grandmother. Those were the other 2 on his list that still remain.

Obama will have to disown his story about seeing his grandmother as a racist, in the name of "tolerance," and common sense. I wrote a post asking if Obama had disowned the Black community, as well, but I concluded that he didn't. He's just an average liberal politician, caught up in the racial identity politics that got him where he is.
