1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup flour plus 1 T
1 cup chopped walnuts
3/4 cup butter plus extra for the pan
In a medium bowl, combine topping ingredients with a fork til they resemble coarse crumbs. Set aside.
Peel and dice several apples. Dot the bottom of a 8" square pan with a couple tablespoons of butter.
Toss apples with a tablespoon of flour. Spread out evenly in the pan and pour the crisp topping on.
Bake in a 325° oven til juice from the apples begins to bubble around the edges.
Butterscotch Sauce
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup butterscotch chips
Heat heavy cream to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in chips til smooth and melted. Cool slightly.
Serve warm crisp with sauce.
This was, without a doubt, THE best apple crisp I have ever made.

Lord, (shivers with excitement) I have all the ingredients on hand!!! I'll have to make this tomorrow.
Damn it, there goes the diet.
ALL of her recipies rock the planet. She was a prof chef / baker extraordinnaire for a MAJOR...THE major University in St. Louis. She quit her job, and moved to the country and is growing awesome things in her greenhouse...while she waits for spring to REALLY start gardening.
I've seen some of the photos of her "creations" that she made for the 'upper crust' (pun intended) folks who meet at WU, and she has created some freakishly AWEsome things. Check her out, http://louannegardens.gather.com/ she is worthy of a bookmark, or four.
I'm with Duckie...this does sound wonderful on this cold Missouri morning.
Blessed be,
Wilka
Kat meet Shannon( one of my newest, most interesting cook buds here on gather)
sooooooooooo..if ya want the real poo on me....just talk to Kat..she knows more than I want to know about me...ROFL
LOL, I just asked if I can call you Chef Lou on one of the cook's challenges. I didn't know you used to be a chef! We need more members with your expertise (and without the "food snob" attitude) around here!
After a small helping, my teeth felt on edge from the ooey, gooey richness of it all. I sent the rest to my grandkids. Let them gorge on the calories... they can afford them better than I can.
Thanks, Jessie.
