I am a very big believer in fusion cooking- for instance, combining traditional American barbecue and 'slaw that has an Asian flair.
That being said, the latest recipe from my allrecipes newsletters just doesn't work. Among other things, it combines red wine vinegar (typically an Italian condiment), cilantro (Hispanic), and apples (American, European). I think we have too much going on here.
I am pretty open minded, but I would never combine cilantro and apples in any dish. How about using fresh lime juice for the vinegar and substituting avocados for the apple?
