Tuna Salad Recipe

This is our family's favorite tuna fish salad recipe but there are many, many more. It is frugal as most of my recipes are. I always buy the cheapest tuna that I can find. I add more or less ingredients just according to how the consistency looks when I get it mixed up.

 

2 cans of tuna

 

 

 

6+ boiled eggs, that I mash up with my potato masher

 

 

 

 

2+ extra large cooking

spoonfuls of relish (which I put up this summer)

2+ extra large cooking spoonfuls of Miracle Whip or mayonnaise

 

 

Then we add cheese to our sandwiches when we spread it on! Yum! Yum!

I also know some people add onions, nuts and apples.

Yum! i never thought of nuts and apples. I just made some for my lunch. I added the same ingredients as you, except for the eggs. I'm out of eggs today, lol

I am going to add a few pieces of apple and nuts to mine tomorrow for lunch and see how it tastes.

I like eggs in tuna fish, but never put that many. I'm going to do that though. It sounds good. And we put onions and celery and apples in ours as well. The apple and the tuna go well together.

Sounds Really Good,Cathi !!! We also Add Celery & a 1/8 teaspoon of Onion Powder to Ours. The Adding of the Nuts Sound Yummy !! I Think, I'll Fix this for Lunch Tomorrow.

Sounds good, but I don't like mayo. I use either Vidalia onion dressing or just about any other creamy dressing. I get the ones from Walden, because they have no calories, but they're delicious!

Tuna isn't cheap anymore, you have to stretch that little can. Sometimes a salad is more macaroni than tuna, with onions, olives, celery, mixed with mayo or italian dressing. Tuna casseroles help expand the food too.

I add diced eggs just occasionally, but always finely diced onion, celery, and Miracle Whip to mix everything together. The relish is different for tuna salad, sounds interesting.

oh, and if you have extra time -- butter two pieces of good bread, make a sandwich of the tuna salad and your favorite sandwich cheese (I like baby Swiss or aged Wisconsin brick) with the buttered side facing out, and toast each side in a frying pan over medium heat until toasted and the cheese melts. Boy, is that good!
