I found a seasoning called McCormick garlic & herb. It's salt free so you have to add salt and pepper if you like. My entire family loves this especially on pork. When you cook with this seasoning, it does not take long for the smell to waft through the kitchen and make every one hungry.
Instead of using regular pork chops, I watch the store adds for a good price on a pork loin and cut the size portions I like. Around here you might be able to find pork loin for $1.89-$2.29 per pound. You can make several meals out of a loin or freeze part of it for another time.
When I slice the pork it becomes boneless pork chops and there are a couple of ways I prepare it:
Sometimes I simply sprinkle the seasoning, salt & pepper on the pork and fry in a bit of olive oil. I like to serve fried or baked apples or applesauce with this dish and a simple vegetable. Might take 20 minutes to prepare.
Other times I sprinkle the seasoning, salt & pepper on the pork and let stand to absorb the flavor, then I flour the pieces and fry to a golden brown. (I use olive oil) Then remove the pork and keep warm. The sprinkle flour in the skillet with the drippings (add more oil if necessary) and brown it a little. Stir in milk or water and let it thicken to a nice gravy, add salt and pepper to taste. Put chops back into the gravy and simmer until tender, about 15 minutes. Serve with rice or garlic mashed potatoes and a vegetable or salad. Might take 30 minutes to prepare.
Sometimes I take about half the pork loin and put in an open roasting pan. Spinkle pork with seasoning, salt & pepper, let stand til room temperature. Insert oven thermometer in thickest part and bake uncovered at 350 until internal temperature reaches 160. You can make a little gravy with either butter or oil and flour adding the drippings to give it color and flavor.
I've tried other ways of seasoning pork, but we all prefer McCormick Garlic & Herb Seasoning.
