(I'm republishing some of my old poems)
When I was young I danced in a fairy ring
Unicorns lived and the world loved everything
My dreams never came to pass
And the unicorns never did last
Life is different from what I thought it would be
And my Prince Charming never found me.
There are no white horses or strong silent knights
And fairy godmothers never appear when you turn out the lights.
There's no magic in the world today
Until you see a small child out at play
When you see a little girl in a ragged dress
Or a little boy with a mudpie mess
You know fairies still live and knights still shine
And a child might bring a play friend to dine.
When you look into eyes that resemble your own
And hold a child of your flesh and bone
If you listen close, you'll hear a fairy sing
As your baby takes you to visit a fairy ring.

You've written an enchanting poem. I love it, especially "mudpie mess."
It is your longing that makes a good poet.
