"New" Antiques!!!

Well my hubby inherited some beautiful "new" (new to us) furniture from his grandparents estate....

What I call the "settee".... I'm not really sure exactly WHAT this piece of furniture is actually called....

It's not a couch and not really a chair.... and not "cushy" enough to be a loveseat.... so I just call it the "settee". LOL.

 

 

and this absolutely gorgeous bookcase............ 

 

 

 

These are both old "Made in Grand Rapids, Michigan" furniture items.  

Grand Rapids was "all that" back in it's heyday... as the furniture capital of the United States.

 

 

 

 

 

It's just GORGEOUS in my living room, isn't it?????

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

(and, yeah, this "settee" is a big NO NO for the dogs.... LOL.)

Oh, Joy, how lucky you are to have inherited those beautiful antiques........they are absolutely beautiful! I'm sure you are thrilled, indeed.....have you found places for them in your house already?!!!!!!! Oh my, sure hope you can keep the dogs away from them!!!! Thanks for sharing the gorgeous photos!

That lawyer's bookshelf is indeed fabulous! You really can't beat the quality and form/function of these earlier pieces. A great addition to your d.i.y. decorating repertoire! ; )

These are fantastic pieces, Joy! I do believe that is called a settee. It was likely originally in a parlor.

Those are really pretty and in such good condition. We have some family pieces made in Grand Rapids, too. It was a boomin' furniture city back in the day.

They are beautiful.I have room if you don't want to keep them!!!(LOL)I'm sure the pet children know not to get on the settee.We did have a full day and night getting the tv and I do love it.LOL I have a new wall unit for it now.I have not got it posted yet.
