Well, for Christmas my boyfriend decided to get me a digital camera since it has killed me being without one of my own. Since he knows little to nothing about them, he let me pick out my own and I decided to go with a Fujifilm camera because it was a decent price and seemed good.
Now, the Finepix S1000 has 10 megapixels and it's got 10x zoom and 12x optical zoom. Some people don't want the extra zoom, but I enjoy setting up my tripod and taking pictures of the birds and wildlife that visit us.
Pros:
- The Finepix S1000 actually does take rather detailed pictures. My pictures turn out a lot clearer in general with this than my other pictures and I've been able to capture really nice night shots that I couldn't get with my mother's.
- This could be considered either a pro or a con, but there aren't all the settings that Kodak has on this camera. There are just the basics so it's easier to choose which ones to use if you know what effect you want. Better than that, the camera also auto adusts for things like aperture and shutter speed depending on the settings, which is very convenient if you don't want to keep adjusting it yourself because that can be annoying.
- It takes really nice night shots as long as it's on a tripod (which is basically a must for all cameras). The only bad thing about night shots is that if the wind is blowing the subject, the shot will be blurred because the shutter speed has to be so slow that it catches this motion.
Cons:
- It's a little sensitive with lighting. If it's too dim, the pictures come out blurry and not as clear as they should.
- The size is a bit large, so if you want a convenient camera to stick in your purse (unless you've got a large purse like mine) then it's not going to really work for that purpose.
- Unlike the Kodak cameras, this one is not all that self-explanatory. It took me quite a while to get adjusted to everything and I actually had to read the manual (something I never did for Kodaks).
Final Rating: 8/10
Oh, and if you're wondering exactly how I have the camera already if it's a Christmas gift, we exchanged gifts early. :) We're going back home for Christmas to spend time with the family, so we exchanged gifts early and this weekend we're exchanging gifts with Nana and Papa so that we get it done before Christmas.
