After we left the Elmo show, we asked Kyleigh if she wanted to go home or to go shopping. She said she wanted to go shopping. So we took her to buy the Star for the Christmas tree.
I thought it would be easy to find a large selection of tree tops, but I was wrong. We first went to a large crafts and hobby store, and they had only one tree top, and it wasn't even a star. Second, we went to a home decoration store, and they had only contemporary tree tops that were too fancy for our taste (and no star either).
We finally went to a mass merchant, and they had 5 different tree top stars to choose from. My husband had previously promised Kyleigh that she would get to pick the star. So I put all the boxes side by side and asked Kyleigh to pick one.
At first she pointed at a very colorful star, so colorful that it was overwhelming. So I tried to sway Kyleigh away from that one. My husband said I should not have shown her the boxes that I didn't want her to pick. Ok, so I put away 2 boxes and let her pick from the remaining 3 choices. Kyleigh contemplated a while and eventually picked an elegant white star with gold trims. We were all happy with the choice.

Kyleigh was very fond of her new star. As soon as we paid, she asked to hold the bag. She wouldn't let go of the bag in the car, in the restaurant at lunch, or on the way home.
