Well we officially set the date last night and we are leaving sunny SW FLorida on July 8 to move to Illinois.
We had been playing around with dates for a week or two and trying to figure out what would work best. We already secured a place to live and paid the deposit and will start paying rent as of July 1. But we had wanted to be able to save as much $ as we could before the move, so we weren't planning on leaving untill August originally even though we would have a place as of July..
But since hubby will be trasferring his job up there, they want it to happen sooner rather than later because the new position he will be taking they need to get filled asap.
Over the weekend we had talked about leaving on July 2, and making it up there by the 4th. But I didn't like that idea from the start. I thought it would be a bad time to travel and plus we already have plans to go to the beach on the 4th with some friends. So it would be the last time we see them and the last time we are on a FL beach for a long time. Now we will still get one last trip to the beach and have an extra few days to pack stuff up. It seems like it is coming up really quickly. It is really quite depressing. I hate moving, and such a long trip is even harder. It isn't so bad when you are moving a short distance and can make a few trips back and forth, but this is one trip one way no turning back..
Atleast we won't be doing the hauling. We have a moving company doing it for us. We have to do all the loading and unloading ourselves, but they pick it up drive to the location with it and drop it off. Then we have a few days before they pick the trailer back up. It isn't one of those Pods. Those are way to expensive. It is a company that rents out part of their trailer to us, then we fill it and close off our section, then they fill the rest up with commercial freight drop the freight off then drop off our trailer for us to unload. They will drop off the truck at our house on the 3rd. Pick it up full on the 7th, then are supposed to have it to our new place by the 11th.
It will end up saving us quite a bit of $ too. To rent a Uhaul and the thing to pull my car behind was going to be the same price. But then we would have had to pay for the gas in the Uhaul which is estimated to only get 3-5mpg when towing a vehicle. So that would run us probably atleast $800 just for the truck, to make the aproximately 1200mile trip.
Plus then I would either have to drive the Uhaul, which wouldn't happen... Or drive hubbys truck which is going to be pulling a small trailer with some more stuff on it plus a full truckbed. Neither of those ideas appealed to me at all. So now I just get to drive my own car with Maddie and our 2 cats, and whatever else I can fit in. David will drive his truck with the trailer attached and our dog with him.
Up untill we move I will probably not be on Gather as much at all, and then there will probably be a week atleast where I am not on at all. When I get back I promise i will do my best to catch up on everything.
One good thing about moving back to IL is we will be within a couple hour drive of all my family, and David has a cousin who will live only about an hour away too.
