Earlier this week my husband and son drove out to the landfill and loaded up on some free mulch. They spread some of the mulch in the various beds in the yard but left one big can for me to finish off my front bed (per my request).
This afternoon my son I laid down newspaper and my son covered it with mulch. I read that the newspaper works to block weeds, so I'm giving it a try. The mulch is very high quality - equivalent to the expensive bags we used to buy - but it's free:)
You can decide for yourself if you think it looks nice in my new bed:
