You may already do this,Anne Marie, or may not feel comfortable doing this, but you can save money by paying bills online instead of through the mail.
I like Tom's idea of unplugging anything not in use. I may do that myself!

I do pay a lot of bills that way. We only have one car and it is a car that has a smaller tank and gets more miles per gallon. We don't live within walking distance of anything we need to do, but we are going to start limiting the number of trips( to the store etc.) made in the car. I do mail things to support the U.S.P.S. considering it is the source of my husband's income and millions of other Americans

Get to know the best price for the things you often use. I have certain things that I only buy when it is on its best sale, and then I use a coupon.

Buy two Sunday newspapers every week. We do this and it saves us lots of money, as I can use two coupons on BOGO sales. The other day, I noticed that my grocery store had the vitamins on sale that my kids love. They were on BOGO sale at two for 7 dollars. I had two three dollar coupons, and got two glasses of vitamins for a dollar.

Reuse! I reuse a lot of my zip lock bags, and this stretches them much farther, which in return makes me save money.

Make a list of the products you use the most, and start emailing/calling companies to request coupons. These are often the best coupons, and sometimes you can even get FREE coupons.

I have adopted the rule Tom mentioned about not buying food that has an ingredient lable. It has saved me tons of money and has made my diet much healthier!

I have started washing and reusing my zip lock bags, too....and I save yougurt and sour cream containers and reuse them as freezer containers for left overs.

I try to consolidate all of my errands into one trip to town, and many days my Jeep never leaves the garage.

We pack a cooler anytime we go anywhere, with cold drinks in it. We used to drive through places when running errands to grab a Coke, and now we just reach into the back seat.

I have saved a large amount of money from the free samples I get in the mail. If I run out of something, I usually have a sample of it and that way I don't have to make an extra trip to the store and it's one less thing that I have to buy.
