Apparently we are expecting another 4 to 8 inches of snow in lovely CT. If you have been reading my posts you will know that I am kinda tired of the snow. So much so, that I have already planned my springtime garden . My gardens will include a dragonfly refuge, butterfly refuge, colorfull patio, and a new patio/firepit area. Next, will be the vegetable garden, but not until the darn snow goes away.

Who else is tired of the snow, and what are you planning for the spring?

Deborah, I must say I miss the snow. But, as a transplanted New Englander, I'm happy to report 72 and sunny.

When I miss snow enough, I can drive to it in two hours.

Around here in North Carolina we will take precipitation in any form we can get. Even an ice storm would not be so bad if it is preceeded or followed by lots of rain or snow. Sigh.

Your plans sound awesome. It is suppose to be 56 here on Tues so we decided to till the vegetable garden that day!! We are starting to plan too.

A dragonfly refuge! Great idea. What will you plant to attract them? And what about the butterfly refuge? What do they like? These sound like wonderful plans!

I, too, am really, really, really sick of snow - and also ice and freezing rain and zero temperatures. This is only my second year in upstate NY - before that I was in northern India - and before that in southern CT, and before that Boston (worse than where I am now due to the wind factor), and before that St. Louis (terrible in winter but it only lasts 2 months). All in all, I'm happy to be alive. LOL. Just waiting for spring ...

I have definite Spring Fever!! I think I might have seen a little bit of grass yesterday where the snow is starting to melt in my yard.... Could've just been delusional because we've buried under several feet of the white stuff for so long here though. LOL

My gardens are all sketched out, just waiting for the weather to cooperate so I can put them in. In addition to the regular vegie garden and my standard flower beds I am doing a hummingbird garden and a garden devoted to growing my homemade salsa ingredients this year. I'm playing around with designs for an herb knot garden as well. I have an area in one of my flower beds for my butterfly refuge, but what are you planning on planting for the dragonflies?? I love the idea!!

I over here raising my hand but I'm buried in the dreaded white stuff up to my fingertips. Your garden plans sound great. I'ld love to do more gardening but the deer make it virtually impossible. If you plant it...they will come.

It is snowing here in Michigan today,another 2 to 4 inches.We are already over 20 inches above normal.I am sick of it too.Been daydreaming about what new to put in my flower beds this year.I quit doing a vegetable garden last year.Hate weeding,so I put the whole thing in wildflowers.I think that was prettier than my regular flower garden.

Wow! It is great you are so organized. I am sick of the snow, too and I have to drive into the city tomorrow which scares me. My garden is filled with perennials and one is a rose garden, the other a bund(hill) behind the pool that has butterfly bushes, lilies, roses, irises and lots of other beauties. The rudebeckia is great, too. I am so excited for spring!

Here in the valley (in CT) we really didn't get much snow this year - I can only think of two or three really good storms. Last Friday's snow was perfect snowball making snow and the neighborhood kids built a ginormous snowman. Yeah, I think we need a couple more good snow storms.

But your gardens sound fab! What plants attract dragonflies?

I had about all the snow I could ever want while being raised in North Dakota. (Although it would be nice to have a bit of the white stuff during the winter holidays.) We've had high winds a buckets of rain for the past several weeks here on the Central California Coastline. I got excited last weekend and filled a few porch pots with store-bought annuals. Today? Fog. Thick as pea soup. Dripping off the trees.
(sigh) it's always something.
We haven't had that much snow, but it's been wicked cold. Snow is better then no precipitation in the winter, as the earth still needs the moisture. But yes, when I lived in CT I got soooo tired of the snow, seemed it hang around far too long.

I am planning on buying some plants for our pond, which is a dragonfly hatchery in the summer. Planting wild flowers in all my pots for butterflies and bees. We have been thinking about building a small gazebo out back with a swing. Lattice on the top and sides for vines...We'll see if can get motivated enough for that. We also need to get our tree out front trimmed because of the top being so damaged by the ice storm in Dec.
Spring is just around the corner...I'm so ready for her.

I am tired of the cold but we haven't had too much snow here for many years. Everyone thinks that Minnesota is covered 10 feet deep in show but we just aren't getting the storms that Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois are getting. It snowed a little over an inch yesterday which is no big deal but it's very windy so the roads are glazed over. I too have been dreaming of the time when I can get outside and work the garden.

and that solution does work for gas perm...I turned a co-worker with gas perm onto it...and I need to go back and see if she loves it as much as I do. I wore original hard lenses (the same pair) for 17 years, then wore gas perm for 18...and I switched to soft about 4 years ago...they were more comfortable until allergy season or late in the day. that solution is nice!

A couple of years ago, I was ready to move back east to the Detroit area. Then we flew back in the winter time. When we landed it was about 15 degrees and the rental car agency said all they had was a "convertible." We nearly froze and I am still warming up here in California. Take pictures when you get your garden up.

I love snow. However, here in Maryland we have had extremely little. We have had 70 degree weather and then the next day it is 40 degrees. This is a crazy state where the weather changes fast.

I would not mind getting that five or eight inches of snow.
